Hello

Latter 2 marriage certs can be sourced from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  A minimum spend £6 - will allow you to view and download x 5 certs.  I think you may have to wait a year before the third can be viewed/downloaded.  Births 1906 and before can be downloaded from the same site.

Certs will give occupations of those married and where living at the time.  Also names of both parents and occupation of father and maiden name of both mothers.

Regards,   Steve :O)

Costs nothing to register - if you haven't visited the site before - it's well worth spending some time to see what it offers.

Marriages on SP are now up to 1933, Steve, so all three will be there.

Robert Wilson and Jessie Stalker might be followed up on the censuses from 1861 - 1901  The 1891  and 1901 would give a fair indication of children of the marriage.

Similarly with David Wilson and Catherine Drysdale, before their marriage - 1891 and 1901.

Hi

I was a bit puzzled about David's parents - i couldn't see them together and I couldn't find a marriage so I finally succumbed and checked David's birth cert ~ Father: Robert Wilson, ploughman  Mother Jessie Stalker, domestic servant. The cert has David as illegitimate. Both Robert and Jessie signed so Robert acknowledged paternity.

The IGI, extracted has the birth of Jessie:

Little Dunkeld, Perthshire 29 April 1865 Janet Stalker
Parents - Alexander Stalker and Euphemia Whittet

Janet and Jessie are interchangeable names.

Not sure if I can find much about Robert - not an unusual name (I've got one as well so know the probs!)

I'll check for him later today if no one else has found him  :)

William Wilson, hd, 52, Labourer - general, b. Melrose
(others)
Robert Wilson, cousin, 26, gardener, b. Melrose

Got a few possible births for Robert - I'm trying to eliminate

Hi again  :)

About the closest that I can get is:

Ladhope, Roxburgh

2 May 1865  Robert Stirling Wilson to Thomas Wilson and Mary Ann Irvine

This is an IGI Extracted record but will also be on SP.

Ladhope is a quod sacra parish of Melrose (I think between Melrose and Galashiels)

I can't be certain that this is him as I don't see him on the 1871 with parents.

From the wedding entry, Catherine's parents were George Drysdale, a joiner and Eliabeth m.s Moir.

The IGI has a marriage for George and Elizabeth on 25th August 1876, Alloa. This is a patron submitted entry so will need checking against Scotlands people.  The sbmission also lists Elizabeth's parents as Robert Moir and Christina McIvor and a death and burial for Elizabeth 11th and 14th April 1909 at Alva, Clackmannanshire. This death will also be on the Scotland's People site.

I'll check the censuses.

Another patron submission for George Drysdale:

b. c. 1854 Alloa died/buried 16/19 March 1904, Alloa

Parents - George Drysdale and Catherine Davie

You'll need to check this against SP.

I think that you could go further back with these lines now using the IGI and Scotlands People.
