Post by: louisa maud on Tuesday 17 February 09 16:55 GMT (UK)
Someone on this board has FEWELL in their surnames, GEORGE FEWELL looks as if he originated from Chignal, he is in Chelmsford workhouse circa 1900 and died 27/03/1901, he is listed in deaths for June qtr 1901 aged 60

this might help someone

Hi Lisa

If you have a subcription to ancestry then log in and there should be a link about the project

basically you have to upload the AWAP software to your pc then you can transcribe all sorts of records for them. At the minute they have quite a few projects going on including Gretna Green marriages which is fascinating, and England newspaper index the rest are mostly american naturalisation indexes but very very interesting to say the least.(in fact there are 12 different projects going at the minute)

http://landing.ancestry.com/wap/learnmore.aspx

look here for more information.
Once you have transcribed so many records and have a very good percentage of correct transcribed records they will ask you to become an arbitrator, and then you get to check other peoples transcriptions and correct them if you feel they are incorrect, some of the records are extremely difficult but others are quite simple.

No problems Lisa I am sure LM won't mind she's a lovely lady :)

Good luck and enjoy haha
I have arbitrated 2302 incorrect records in 4 days, thats as well as keying 2220 records myself in the last week, so it's very addictive

Hi Kath
Pleased to see you on the board again, was worried about your absence.
I have never heard of the project you are on before,
Hope George Fewell was of some interest, it might help someone, I really found the workhouse ledgers interesting but very sad.
I hope to get back to the ERO again soon, not on a Monday as it sounded as if it was standing room only

Take care

LM
