Title: William BAWDEN
Post by: Ken Rob on Tuesday 17 February 09 00:20 GMT (UK)
William was born 5 Oct 1887 in Camborne, Cornwall.  The 1891 census shows two different William BAWDENs born in Camborne.

My William says he emigrated 1907 to US, but I am unable to verify that on NY Passenger Lists.

How do I determine WHICH William is mine?

My William later died 31 Mar 1936 in Silver Bow Co., Montana.

Thanks,  Ken Rob (California)

So he is either mistaken about his birthplace or his birthdate?  I am assuming Redruth is a different place than Camborne.

I got both from his responses on his military draft card information for WWI.

I see Kris has posted arrival NYC 1908, so I guess he was off a year there.

Maybe he made errors in other places too.

Thanks both.

Ken

Hi Rob,

I have been studying this. I see he never used a middle initial in the US Census entries.

Just looking at the passenger list again and realised there is a second page. He says he paid for the ticket himself. Had at least $60 on him. Had been in the US before for 11 years in (Butte Ci.....)? Rel Father Joseph Henry BAWDEN Cripple Creek Colorado  :-\

There are a few marriages listed for Joseph BAWDEN's in Redruth. Only one to Joseph Henry. A Joseph Henry BAWDEN possible wife Ellen Jane PRIDEAUX Redruth Sep 1883 5c 374 The passenger list does say E C Bawden as the relative in Camborne, so I just don't know. I am just not finding anything to fit.

There is a Joseph H BAWDEN at West Four Mile Colorado in 1910 a farmer stating he has been in US since 1884   ??? No family present
1920 aged 62 a Stockman says he is married No family present

If this is your man I just can't seem to put any of it together in UK
