I am looking for anyon researching this family. I have a LOT of data on them, particularly on the line descended from Deacon Samuel Wright who emigrated to the American colonies with the Winthrop fleet in 1630.
I would very much like to know if anyone has tracked this family from BEFORE they moved to Kelvedon or the South Weald area?

Hi Oldmedic and welcome to Rootschat and the Essex board. Although I can not help you on the Wright's of South Weald etc you maybe interested in the following site
www.friendsofdagnampark.org.uk
which has the history of the parkland that was once owned by Doctor Laurence Wright who died in 1657 and followed by his son, Sir John Wright who owned the estate from 1657 to 1663. On his death the ownership passed to his son, also Sir Henry who had possession from 1663 to his death in 1681 it was then taken over by his sister Anne who later sold the estate in or around 1739.

Thanks Old Rowley.
I appreciate the referral to that web site.

I've come across a lot of family trees which go back to the Wrights of Dagnam Park / South Weald / Kelvedon Hatch while researching my history site on Kelvedon Hatch, but none seem to take it further back than the second half of the 1400s. Most of the trees are published in the US. Some replicate each other and are not sourced.
As for going further back, whether the records are not available, or it requires a great deal of expertise because of the nature of the documents, I do not know.

I am a descendant of the Wrights of Kelvedon (so far as my research has shown). I would be interested in knowing more about Samuel and his descendants - if only to verify my own research.
