Hi
My husbands Grandmother and Grandfather, please could you clean up and tell me the date?
-
don't know what happened photo was not attached, so here goes again.

Hi tiddles...
Do you have the original? This scan is very small and will be difficult for the restorers to work on.
It would be good if you could scan this at 300dpi, and in colour as it gives the restorers more to work with…
If you do repost it, you will have to change the file name slightly...adding a number or letter to it will do.
Cheers,
China

Can not work out from this image if it is a large kick up at the shoulder on the bodice or the start of Gigot sleeving, either way I would suggest a date period of somewhere between 1890 and 1895. She also appears, from what I can see, to have a band on her ring finger and as both seem to have flowers pinned to their clothing could this be a photograph showing a newly married couple?
The photographer's, Ward's, had been trading from various premises in the Brixton Road Lambeth from at least 1879 when Alfred Thomas Ward took over from Henry Ward. Also known as Ward and Co. as well as Ward's, the company was to trade from the Brixton Road until at least 1906. Ward's were also trading in Battersea between 1891 and 1906 and in Chelsea from 1890 til 1907.

That's kind of what I was thinking, OR, early nineties...but it's such a poor scan there aren't enough details visible :-\

Good morning.
I will try and scan 300dpi and in colour. I am new at this sort of thing, will either look on this site to find out how do this, or ask a very good friend to help me.
My husbands Grandmother and Grandfather got married 1902, thank you for this info.

Hi Bill,
Many thanks, that is just great, you are very clever. I still have not got around to scanning 300dpi, I have look on the site and read about it all, so much to take in, however, I will try and see if I can do it.
Once again many thanks,
Tiddles. :)

The Wards were my GG granfather and G granfather respectively. Their studio in the 1890's would have been at 2 Station Road Croydon. Old Henry Ward ran a number of studios with his wife Susan before this in Soutwark and South London. I think his brother took over the running of one of his studios. His son Henry took over the running of his studio in Croydon and he was still operating up until the 1930's. I would suggest this photo is prior to 1890. Let me know if you need any further information
