Would anyone know were this hospital might be please.
I am trying to gather infomation about my Gt Uncle Charles Bradley Birth 1896, he was in the 2nd Team Le!is Gun Section 2/2 London Regt. He is the second man front row from the bed. the one with the biggest bandage.
Any help would be most appreciated as I am having no luck in finding anything about him. All I do know is that he had shell shock.

I'm afraid it will be virtually impossible to pin the location of this ward down!!
Most towns had several dozen small wards and hospitals - alongside the usual General Hospitals and war hospitals - commandeered for the duration. Some people gave up rooms in their houses for the troops, and some gave entire houses over.
The large County Lunatic Asylums were frequently taken over as well....
Have you found his pension records on Anpestry yet? Therein may be the int you are looking for!
-
Thank you for responding scrimnet I know it was a long shot.
I have looked on ancestry but I had no luck there.
Thank you Val
-
Have you checked on just his name? He may have been in another Regt as well...
If he was suffering from shell shock he may well be a "service patient"...
-
Yes I have just checked his name, just checking ancestry again just incase I missed something ::) The photo I got his regiment from look's as it could be when he first joined the army.
A sevice patient! is there any records for this please.

Hi Val !
There are 3 Charles Bradley's in the medal cards ... one in the 16th Battalion one in the 18th battalion and this one ... if this is him - then you also need to check the Royal Berkshire Regiment !
Medal card of Bradley, Charles W
2nd London Regiment 5495 Private
Royal Berkshire Regiment 43624 Private
Date 1914-1920

That room looks more like a house than a proper hospital doesn't it ?
Annie :)

the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th London Regt wore the badge of the Royal Fusiliers. This had not changed since they had been the Volunteer bns of that Regt.
These are the second 2nd London Regt
They are wearing the emergency 1914 leather web equipment...From about 1915...
-
So he was a volunteer. Thank you for that.

I have cropped and enlarged the picture that is at the back of the hospital photo. It is a bit fuzzy but maybe another clue.

It could be any of a number I'm afraid!!!
It even looks like a Northamptonshire collar dog....Or anything from Royal Guernsey Militia to Royal Engineers passing via 13th AND 18th Hussars...So sorry, I don't think that would help much...
Now if we could read what was written on it.... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Never mind another long shot ;) But thank's

Hello, I am new to this and have not quite figured out the gears.
My maiden name is Charles. My Grandfather was William John Charles and owned a Jewelry Store across the park from The Palace. Does this sound familiar to you?
