Title: I.O.L abbreviation on Marriage Certificate

Hi All,

I have been searching for so long to find out why it says "Bachelor I.O.L" on my Grandfathers marriage certificate and about his x mark.

any help will be great  ;D

I don't know about the IOL abbreviation, but my understanding of the X mark is that the person couldn't sign their name so marked it with a cross.
