Hi,
In a previous post on Winifred Ingram/Williams the RootsChat crew were able to supply me with lots of Palin information.
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,344063.75.html
I am now trying to complete the Palin line and would like to find more information about the original Palin family that emigrated in 1849.
What I have already on these Palins is:
William Palin born abt. 1816 in Shropshire married Elizabeth Reese born abt 1811 in Shropshire. So far I have not been able to locate a marriage, but I am still looking.
They had three children that have shown up in the 1841 census in England : Elizabeth abt 1838 in Shropshire, William in Shropshire abt 1839 and Emma abt 1840 in Shropshire. I then have them migrating in 1949 on the Orator and settled in South Australia. I don't know how many children they had in total whether in England or Australia.
I would love to know when William (Sen) and Elizabeth (Sen) died or if they had more children, as well as further information on Elizabeth (Jun) and Emma.....I have lots on William (Jun) and his family thanks to the amazing RootsChatters community.
Many thanks
Susie

Hi again Susie and PeeCeeBee,
More information here and a reli ;D
It appears Elizabeth died before William and the children immigrated.

immigration does not list Elizabeth

Susie,
I've been researching Sophia Amelia ATKINS Born: 13 Jun 1875 in Karkarilla SA (DAL 152/391).
Sophia was my great, great grandmother.
I was wondering if you found any additional information regarding William & Elizabeth Palin?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

I have lots of information about William Palin as I’m a descendant of his . I still reside in Moonta where our family moved to from Broken Hill after emigrating from the ( Salisbury Plain is only info I have) . He was a farmer and blacksmith . Palins still farm at Maitland not far from here where they ended up . I can post lists of children ect tomorrow as it’s late at night now and I’ve just found this . Very excited to be able to add to the information I have too

Hi Donna :)
Welcome to rootschat :)
There are many public trees on Ancestry about Wm and his descendants. Perhaps you should contact those owners so save duplicating information here. I may add some are incorrect eg Elizabeth having children after her death ::) ::)
Link to Wm's and his children's arrival in SA. The link in the thread no longer works.

An aside - my husband's father's family settled initially at Kilkerran and Balgowan. His gggrandfather is buried in the Maitland cemetery and gggrandmother at Kadina. No descendants in the area today. Mother's ancestors from around Kadina. All many years ago now.

Hi Donna, we must be related then!
William is my ggggggrandfather, his daughter married William Atkins who had a daughter Sophia - also born in Moonta.
Sophia had a rough life, she married a deadbeat called George Roberts and had my Great Grandmother Mary Roberts (went by her step fathers name of Parish) in Broken Hill before divorcing him in 1900 and marrying Samuel Parish in 1902 and having 3 more children.
Interestingly Mary was always known to me as Nanna Parish, I knew nothing of the Roberts link before researching my tree.
As for William and Elizabeth I believe that they were from the Shropshire area. I have them married in Wolverhampton in 1837 and living at Queen St Broseley with 3 children in the 1841 census.
In their marriage registry William’s father is John (farmer) and Elizabeth’s father Samuel (Keeper).
