The doesn't seem to be much for prison records for these dates that I found , I did however go through a bundle of papers which I discovered was showing what the prisoner had when they went into prison, IE. knife, Albert chain and the such like but nothing that referred to your man, a waste of an hour but I did look, sorry, back to someone else's ideas

Hi
I have some info on Robert Spackman for you.
Robert Spackman b 1846 in Orsett Essex. Married Mary Ann Beard .
Records from Orsett petty sessions register say he was charged on 20th June 1890 for carnally knowing a young girl aged 14-16. The informant was a Mary Ann Rickett.
He was remanded till 27th June and comitted for trial at the next sessions in July 1890. Although details of where he was tried haven't been logged, he definitely went into Chelmsford prison as he in listed an an inmate in the census of 1891. The usual sentence was 12-15 months hard labour.
Hope it's what you're looking for

I have a long line of 'Spackmans' in my tree. If you are interested in them or their respective marriages, then maybe it would make sense to swap info.

Hi
I have benifited from being a regular on Rootschat for a few years, and have had contact with some great people who have sometimes been in a better position than I, to visit the various records offices. That applied in this case, and a very kind friend remembered my query, and looked it up for me at the Essex Records office. I fell in love with her :)
I have several of the Spackman's on my tree and you can mail me if you wish on (*)
Regards
Jard
