My great great grandfather Philip Malkin died at 23 Winn Street Barnsley on 3 October 1899 aged 56. He was a coal miner. I am curious to know if he was buried in Barnsley or whether his body was taken back to Staffordshire where he was born - Halmer End or Audley. Does anyone have access to burial records which would answer this?
And also what became of his sons Joseph (b 1870) and Thomas Frederick (b 1872) after the 1901 census - does anyone know?
Thanks for help!!

Lindacarol,
Welcome to rootschat... ;D
Burial recotrds are very hard to find unfortunately .
You have the xact date and place of death which may make an obit or newspaper itms a possible lookup.
You need to know the name of the local newspaper for Barnsley if you think your cahp died there- it's a long shot but one of the few ways to ferret out a burial..

Thanks for the help - very prompt so I am very impressed!Still wondering if someone out there has a list of burials as I doubt that the death of a humble former coal miner of natural causes would make a newspaper.
all best wishes
