Hi Tanya
Is there any more info given on the marriage emtry for 1869? Does it give any mention of parents names at all? There were a few William George Mitchells born in the London area around 1845-1852ish.

I have very little information on William George Mitchell. Unfortunately. I do know he married Emma Mary Connolly 31 Jul 1869. 47 Burton St, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Emma was born 10 Nov 1846 in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia and Died 1892 in Newtown. They had a son Claude William Mitchell, born 15 May 1870, Newtown, New South wales, Australia.

Hi Tanya
Have you obtained copies of his Australian marriage and death certificates? What information do they contain on his parentage? If you haven't got the certificates it would be well worth finding out the information from them. The death certificate should also state how long he had lived in Australia to see if you can find him on immigration records to see whether he came alone or with his family.
Regards
Valda

I have been able to secure a copy of his marriage Certificate: However; there is no family information on the certificate. His death is unknown. His son posted a Newspaper article for his mother on his mothers death:
THE Friends of Mr. CLAUD WM. MITCHELL,
are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral
of his late beloved Mother Emma Mary ; to move
from her late residence, No. 12 St. John-st., New
town, THIS (SATURDAY) AFTERNOON, at 2
o'clock, for the Necropolis. F. W. HARTLEY,
Undertaker, 273 King-st, Newtown ; and Rockdale.,
LOYAL St. John's. 'Lodge (6), M.U., I.O.O.F.—
The Officers and 'Members of the above Lodge
are requested to attend the Funeral of Bro. W. G.
MITCHELL'S wife;- to leave his residence, St.
John's-st., Newtown,, at 1.45 p.m., for Newtown
Station, thence to Necropolis. (Signed) G. Carrie,
N.G. ; J. Trahair, Fin. Sec.
However I can not seem to find anything about his father. I would suggest that he was a member of the Newtown lodge but unable to find any details.
Unknown whether the Trove Newspaper suggests that William George Mitchell was not around at the time of his wife's death or not.
If anyone is able to assist that would be great. Thanks in advance.

From the reference to the cemetery for Emma's burial on the 1892 newspaper notice, the Necropolis (also known as Rookwood Necropolis Cemetery) has a really good search option on their site.
I think these are the details for William and Emma at the cemetery https://rookwoodcemetery.discovereverafter.com/search-results?search_first=emma&search_last=mitchell&cemetery=248&site=rookwoodcemetery&advanced-search=Search#

From these details, possible entry on the death index for William G:
William G Mitchell
Death Date:1915
Father's Name: William
Registration Place: Newtown, New South Wales
Registration Number: 5036
Looks like William's mother's name was not known to the informant?

William George Mitchell appears to have been working as crew on ships:
Possibly first arrival in Australia
Ship: MATAURA London to Sydney arriving Nov 1866
Amongst the crew is a William Mitchell “ships boy” age 16
He appears on the same ship in April 1867 from New Zealand to Sydney - again as crew – “engine boy”
Then he is crew “engine fireman" in May 1873 onboard WONGA WONGA from Melbourne to Sydney.
And Again on WONGA WONGA in 1875 from Auckland to Sydney, - William Goerge Mitchell “engine fireman".
Thinking out loud: Did he die at sea? and therefore no Death reg.

Thankyou for your assistance.
He was married in 1869.
Does these records show if there is a Thomas Peter James Mitchell on the same Vessels?
I believe it to be his brother.
Does it have anything about his parents?
Thanks Tanya

Thanks Monica,

Hello All,
I now have Copies of the following certificates: Emma Mary Mitchell's Death 1892, William George Mitchell's death 1915 and Thomas Peter James Mitchell death 1915.
Very hard to work out the boys parents as William's informants are unrelated and therefore; unreliable and Thomas has James Mitchell and Caroline noted as his parents.
But the occupation of his father is Seaman which is consistent with the previous information. I am truly thankful for your assistance.

William Henry Mitchell: Born 03 May 1884 in Charters Towers Townsville. Family member has a DNA connection with my Mother. (37.5 Through My heritage) If Thomas Peter Mitchell and William George Mitchell's parents are Thomas Peter Mitchell and Caroline Stone
Where would the connection be. Noting there is a tree on Family Search? They does not provide any answers.
Regards,
Tanaya

So, this is the family tree you mention for William Henry Mitchell born 1884 www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KFC5-DVM
His father's details are relatively easy to verify, with parents William Mitchell, a copper miner, and Mary Brooking and his birth in 1851 in Marytavy, Devon. Father's death in 1906 is pretty much correct except father is given by informant as John rather than William. Mother is given as Mary Brocking.
Tanya, it will help us to better understand if you can indicate how you connect to these Mitchell families. Only you will know which is the correct line, dependant on your ancestry (and DNA).

From the details posted by Neale earlier, which included the marriage register entry for Thomas and Caroline's marriage with fathers' names, below is I think the baptism entry for Thomas (23 May 1827 at St Anne, Limehouse, Tower Hamlets).
Possible siblings include the children below. These are baptisms at St Anne, Limehouse, Tower Hamlets, except for Peter John which took place at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney High Street, Stepney):
1821 Julia Anna...late marriage to a William Brooks in 1868. She died in 1871.
1822 Peter John...died 1825
1825 Lucinda
1825 Eliza Mary
1827 Peter Thomas (as above)
1830 James
There is also a marriage in 1860 in Poplar, Tower Hamlets for a Mirian Mitchell to a John Samuel Payne. Her father is showing as Thomas Peter Mitchell, mariner. Caroline Mitchell looks to be one of the witnesses.
