Do you have any more information about Priscilla? There's a possible death in 1907 for her.
Priscilla Jenkins b.1900. Died JFM qtr 1907. 11a 95.

Thanks for the picture link but does anyone have the burial list for this church?
-
Try getting in touch with the vicar/rector of the church. Go to www.churchinwales.org and follow the links from there.
-
did you have any luck finding the burial ?
-
Hi Myfanwy I have not found her burial site yet i know it is the death in bedwelty but i would like to find the site because i would like to visit the area if i know where she is.
Regards
-
so, you know she's buried in Bedwellty, but you just don't know where - is that right?
I'm at bedwellty quite often, I'd be happy to look around for you if you are trying to locate a headstone.
If you are still trying to confirm IF she's buried at bedwellty, then the Recotor is a great place to start - they are very helpful in St Sannons with assisting people to locate graves etc.

Hi Carol
Did you have any luck with your search for the headstone? If you have not been to the church already, then I suggest you take a large lunchbox. The yard is massive and very hilly. Most of the stones are weatherworn or falling over unfortunately. We will be visiting later in the year and will look out for your Priscilla if you can give a few more details. It is a beautiful church and a very peaceful spot. There is another yard across the road to the church also for more modern burials but not sure the starting date. If that is the case and Priscilla is there then the search should be slightly easier as they seem to have stood the weather a bit better, being on the level.

There are actually 3 going on for FOUR Graveyards/Churchyards for St Sannons now.
The headstones in the graveyard opposite the Church are newer, but you could also find deaths for 1907 in there too. My Great Grandparents are all in this one - but in saying that, my Mothers infant Sister is actually buried in the Churchyard, and she died before her Grandparents.
The furthers burial ground away from the Church is the newest, and she definately wouldn't be in there.
I meant to go up last weekend, and lost the piece of paper I wrote the details on, and this weekend was a washout .... I will try to get up there this coming weekend for you.

Hello Welshgirl
Oh that is interesting, where are the other two churchyards situated? The last time we visited St Sannan it had just started snowing and was bitter so am looking forward to our next visit.

you've got the Churchyard, which stretches right down, where the scarlet fever deaths are buried - these are in a small patch of grass in unmarked graves.
Then opposite the Church you have the central graveyard (you know this one)
Just around the corner, or if you walk through the central one, you'll come to the bottom gate, and then just across the track/road there is the new one. This backs on to the Rectory, but it's getting so full, that they've started to use the adjoining field too. So, if you've not been there for a while, you'll notice a lot more graves!!
There are lots of benches donated too now, and parking area too. The newer graveyard have a gate-in and a gate-out set up .... but people go in whatever gate the feel like ...LOL

Have you thought of asking the Records Office / Archives to check the Parish Registers. Usually for that late they will be on microfilm.
Or as was suggested, the vicar may be kind enough to look
You have a good idea of the date, and the name and age are quite unusual.
It may save you a wasted journey.

Lots of resourses on this site, and they do research for non members at a reasonable fee. :)

Hi Thank you again Welsh girl for going to look for me you mention scarlet fever deaths when did they happen was is a local epidemic one year?
-
I'm not 100% sure. They are unmarked graves too, which is quite odd ....
I am wondering if they were the deaths from the isolation hospital ? That was demolished a long time ago .....

Had a look through the MI's for St Sannan's Church at Gwent RO. Could not find an entry for Priscilla Jenkins. Sorry !

I have a contact for St Sannon, and be happy to give you their e-mail - I know they get a lot of requests for look ups and do so at a small charge for the Church, but I know they'll be happy to search for you.

Just because it says Bedwelty on her Death registration does not mean she was buried at that church as Bedwelty was the parish area which covered Argoed, Bargoed, Blackwood, Briery Hill, Ebbw Vale, George Town, New Town, Pengam, Pontygof, Rock, Rhymney, Tredegar, New Tredegar and Victoria. Where was she living when she died ? Address should be on the death certificate. Failing that where was she married and or christened ? Possibly buried in same church.

Further to my previous post I've taken a look at the burial register for St. Sannan's for the March Qtr. 1907 +, sorry to say no Pricilla Jenkins.

Hi,saphiregirl,
my grandfather's small birth certificate gives his birthplace as Rock Bedwelty. When we sent for the full cert it gives his birth as 6 Elm Street,Aberbargoed.Presuming from your post that Rock Bedwelty is part of Aberbargoed. I was wondering where grandfather would have been christened-what would be the nearest church to this address.
Regards.
