My father served as a sergeant in the RAF and my mother as corporal in the WAAF during WW2.
Could someone tell me where I can access details of their service records?
It appears easier to access records from WW1 than WW2 for some reason.
Any help gratefully received.

You can access their service records from here:
http://www.army.mod.uk/6980.aspx
and follow the link about documents on the RHS - Army search form.
However if either of them is still alive they have to apply themselves, otherwise you have to fill in the certificate of kinship. Hopefully you have some details of their service numbers to make it easier. Add a cheque for £30 per search & send it off. Fingers crossed you will get their entire service history. I did it for my dad's record - fascinating.

Thanks for that Ann, unfortunately they are both dead and I do not have their service numbers, infact I have very little to go on other than they met and married during the war at Church Village in Wales so I assume they were posted nearby.

You might be Ok if you give details of their births etc. Read the search form & see what it says.

Hi,
My grandparents met and married during WW2 - on their marriage certificate it gives their names, regiment, rank and service number.
It might be worth getting a copy of your parents' marriage certificate from the General Register Office if you don't have it - it might give you the details to make obtaining the right service record easier.
