My grandfather - Ronald Price is giving me a headache!
I have a Certificate of birth.
Name: Ronald Price
Sex: Boy
Date of Birth: 15 December 1917
Registration District: Bedwellty
Sub District : Tredegar
11A 219 363
issued 12 Oct 1977
No Parents etc... cant find the ref number to order it.. ie what quarter
Have already ordered one wrong!
Believe mother was a Margaret Ann Jenkins and father a John Price
Can anyone help?
-
Which one have you ordered?
And where did those details come from - looks very much like the reference number below what you've included (11a 219 - mothers maiden name THOMAS, March quarter 1918).
If it must be JENKINS, there is one in June quarter 1917, Crickhowell 11b 143 - Ronald J PRICE, mmn JENKINS
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)
-
ordered the :
June quarter 1917, Crickhowell 11b 143 - Ronald J PRICE, mmn JENKINS
the other one makes sense... but the name is wrong....
March quarter would make sense....
-
I still wonder where you got the information from?
It would be easier to help you if you told us a bit more about your sources!
;)
-
from my grandfather....cant trust the information :-( I have been going on this for a long time and getting no where so time to change tack! His father was definitely a John Price... guess I should now look for a marriage of Thomas and Price - cant find the jenkins version!
Any chance you can look for any of his sisters. They were all older and their were 7 in total : Jenny, Kathleen, Winnifred, susannah (sissie)... sorry dont know about the rest... Then I can see if we are on the right track. Something happened that caused a rift not sure what .... nothing would surprise me.
He lied about quite a lot... even his wifes age - she was 6 years older than him and we didnt know until she died!
-
I assume you got John PRICE's name from grandad's marriage certificate?
Do you know who any of the sisters married? You could then look for their date of death and extrapolate their birth dates, whic you could compare with birth records.
The problem is that prior to Sept 1911, no mother's maiden name is included in the indexes.
Will get back to you later
A ;)
-
that is correct re ronalds Marriage cert!
Thanks for your help. It is really appreciated!
I dont really know a lot I am sorry about the sisters. I understand they got married - one of them moved to South Africa one lived in Poole I believe.
Thanks again - this is making my family tree very lopsided! My grandmother isnt too much better - these Welsh make life hard :-)

Hello again Jen
I am struggling to find a family group, registering their births in the same district and with the right maiden name for the mother.
You might have to wait and then bite the bullet and look for the family in the 1911 census - when the Welsh counties are eventually released!
If you find out anything more, post it here and I'll take another look
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)
-
Glad it was not just me having problems finding them!
Will talk to my dad and see if he can shed any light on the whole family!
-
Finally am geting somewhere....
Ronald Price parents were John Price age 25 and Margaret Ann Thomas age 23 - married in Nov 13th 1899.
Father David Price (Collier)and William Thomas (deceased).
Have managed to find information on David as below but nothing on William. I would love to know how to find more on David and Susannah but I am struggling.. need some expert help I think!

thanks for all the help.
Guess I just needed someone else to have a different approach - also expert eyes!
But why oh why is it a Jones? Price is bad enough!
-
You need certificates to confirm it IS Jones. At least you have some less common first names and 2 marriages for Evan to find his father's details.
Possible remarriage
Evan Jones dec qtr 1857 Abergavenny vol 11a 152 with Fanny Harries on the same page
It's definitely not the one from june qtr 1856 as that Frances married Cyrenius Gooding the other male on the page.
-
So and get Ellen's birth certificate and go from there?
No I dont assume it is a Jones but having to research a Jones and Price... not too much fun! Other names are so much easier!
