Title: BOOTES Toronto
Post by: pbootes on Tuesday 03 February 09 23:08 GMT (UK)
Looking for information on Charlie Sergeant Bootes and family who emigrated to Canada from Sussex (UK) about 1903. Also his sister Katherine Nock Bootes who was a nurse serving in WW1. I see there are some BOOTES families still living in the area.

HI Paul,

Here are Kate's Attestation papers, just in case you don't have them.  You can order her full file from Library and Archives Canada.

There is a passenger list entry for a Charles S. Bootes who arrived via New York on 28 Mar 1910 aboard the Laurentic. Here's a link to the Canadian passenger list at Library and Archives Canada (line 15):

You can view the New York passenger list at the Ellis Island website:

You have to register to view the passenger list but that's free. He's listed as Charles Boates there. The passenger list entry is over 2 pages so you have to click on the "next" link to see the second page (pages 0770 and 0771).
