Title: Jennings and Pelly Families
Post by: Flowers on Tuesday 03 February 09 10:40 GMT (UK)

Am trying - not too successfully - to find ANY information re William Jennings and Elizabeth Pelly and any children.    I do have two daughters - Eliza born approx 1841 and Dorinda (Derinda) born approximately 1842

My Jennings family were from Galway, from Caltra, my Gt Gt Grandfather was Luke Jennings, a career soldier and one of his children born in Ireland was a William Jennings, they came to Manchester, England in 1840, i have struggled to find anything out about Lukes birth as i believe a lot of irish records were destroyed, so do not think my William can be the one you are looking for.

Hi Flowers and Salford Lad,
I just saw your message.
type in on search
tithe applotments Ireland
you will see the records for fees/ tax paid 1823 to 1837
search for Pelly and nothing else. There are 5.
Your Pelly is there in Castleblakeney which is near to Caltra.
then go to
Jennings and you will see 206 all over Ireland.
Note that some names are shortened so you will have to pick who's who.
If you take the town land name and search by that you will see on the map where it is.
You will also see the Parish.
Now go to
www.registers.nli.ie/
choose the county then the parish.
then you will search, if they are there, the Parish Books.
Then if you have time......go to Griffiths Valuation and see if they are still there in the areas.
Ok

I just saw a message (from 2016) about this family on another website:
Ireland Reaching Out,
It was on the message board for Cappataggle Parish (the Catholic parish near the village of Lugan, Galway).
It mentions Eliza and Dorinda and their other siblings.
I hope this helps you.
