Sarah,

Annalough is a very small townland adjacent to Inchaquire where there were Kellys in 1852 but not at Annalough where only 3 families were listed then so there is a strong possibility that Inchaquire is your ancestral home in which case there is almost certain to be a connection with the late Willie Kelly who was a local historian from there.

My 2x's great grandmother was named Margaret Kelly who I have reason to believe belonged to the Kellys of Inchaquire, born circa 1800 who married Martin Cahill, they lived at the Bog Ranger's House, Calverstown Little which is just a mile or so to the north but that house was only built circa 1840 so I don't know where they lived before that.

Willie Kelly died suddenly a few years ago and I have had conflicting reports as to what happened to his extensive research which I can't mention here to comply with the living persons rule but I can send you a personal message to put you in the picture. Also, if you scroll down to the subject "Birth in Kildare" you will see that it also concerns the catholic parish of Crookstown and the townland of Inchaquire.

Good luck,
J.T.A.

That figures, In 1852 John Kelly of Inchaquire held over 70 acres which abutted Annalough. William may have been his son who was able to take over or inherited adjacent lands at Annalough.

Look out for a P.M. from me.

he spoke about annalough a lot and said that he sold the farm due to bad
debts which he regretted he became a butcher and moved to dundalk where
my brother called william was born.  then to london . my father remained in close contact with the brennan family who farmed in narraghmore i belive his sister was married to daniel [ denny ] brennan . as a family we had a few holidays in narraghmore i remember visiting a lot of relatives in that area
my father very rarely spoke of his elder brothers i dont know why.
my father died age 83 in 1994.

My Husband is Peter kelly's  grandson....His father also peter....

Its taken me a long time to get this far..and i have been in contact with a few living relatives in crookstown...a matt leigh who was margarets son....she would have been henry's sister.

I have many questions I would like answered and need to be answered so i can go back in time....I have Willaims date of birth. but having great difficulty getting birth cert for it.

Do u live in Ireland, or are u In England..

How far back have u gone with the family tree. Kelly is a hard name to research..

hi , i live in london and have just started out on this family
tree , what i need is info from the censuses after 1911 which wont be released until 2025. if i had this it would give me a better idea of how the farm was disposed of. your grandfather was my dads  eldest brother i think . did he always live in england ?
when my dad did mention his family he spoke very fondly of his father who died when he was 11 or 12 i think and he never knew his mother
i think margeret [ maggie ] took care of him. he said other brothers he had moved to the states
i met margeret when i was
younger she was always known as maggie and she lived in
a cottage on matts farm she was a wonderful lady.
i dont know if i can be of any more help to you as a lot of the
parish records of births and deaths need to be researched
in ireland probably in the church in crookstown.
i will be happy to share any information i have with you.
the last time i was in ireland was 25 years ago with my dad
and we went to a churchyard where a lot of dads family were
buried i think it was in crookstown.

Hi, yeah, i have some into.  I have copies of the 1901 and the 1911 census, Henry must have been born after the 1911 census, because he is not on it, I have death, marriage certs for william and bridget, and Peter's birth and fist marriage certs as well as his second. I have spoken to Matt leigh's wife to try and get extra info. I have also e=mailed  father Macavoy in crookstown but he hasnt got back to me in 6 mths, it might be better if u try.. I also have a list of names and dates who are on the family, grave in crookstown ...

But my info is limited, and I have been trying to track down William kelly's birth cert for a year......still no joy... I was hoping you could help with that..;   I was also hoping there would be a few photo's of the farm with family in it.

I will give you my phone number.......sometimes its easier chatting on the phone about certain in fo  rather e-mailing,  If your interested.

I am researching the Leigh family of Inchaquire and have just connected via email with the son of a Matt Leigh via email. Is Matt's wife's name Lily?  If so, we are looking at the same family.  Matt had a brother James and his father was William Leigh.  Would your Maragaret Kelly be William Leigh's wife?  Matt and Lily and their son are dairy farmers.

To Sarah Kelly and Kevin Kelly

I am related to Margaret (Kelly) Leigh and William Leigh1.  William1 is my grandfather's first cousin.  William had children named Bridget, William2, Patrick E, James (deceased), and Matthew2 who is married to Lily.

William Leigh1 who married Margaret had siblings Edward, Esther, Matthew, Bridget, James J2, Ellen or Nellie, John, Patrick, Christina, Mary Kate, and Elizabeth.  Their parents were James1 Leigh and Eliza Byrne.  James and Eliza are on the 1901/1911 census for Rahoonbeak, Inchaquire.  James is my great-grandfather John Leigh's brother.

I have connected to Leigh relatives in Michigan who are related to James2.  James2 lived with an Uncle in Michigan Mathew1 Leigh who I have found out lived with his aunt Margaret (Leigh) Eardly.

I have plotted my Leigh family and the Kelly connection on my Ancestry.com tree.

There is a John Kelly living with my grandparents at their home in Yonkers, NY, USA on the 1940 census. A relation?

Ive got post and bits all over the web sites...trying to find out more on the kelly family...my latest lead is conected to the famous irsh boxer in the 1800's, Dan Donnelly... A william kelly was his sponser and trainer.. but im still trying to confirm all this....I still need william kelly's birth record to go back...have his marriage and death and his census 1901/11...but need more...

Sarah

There is a 2007 post on Ancestry's message boards about Peter fro A Ryan Gerrard:

Im looking for family conected with peter kelly born County Kildare 1907, he left Ireland to go to canada, but returned to settle in Fulham london were he Married Peggy Edwards and had 13 children Eldest called Patrick then Peter Susan Mitchell Edward Anne Barbra Kevin and Jean, If you have any conection to his life and work in Ireland it would be helpful

I added the siblings to the Kelly tree.

Its helpful to spell out nicknames like "Peggy" as Margaret.
