Hi EllinSpain
I had a look around this site (on trial )and found both names in 1871 in Newry Co Down getting married. Perhaps them?

Marriage entries for bride and groom should have same volume and page numbers.

Hi all,
Sorry the above two entries are definitely not them
The above Sarah Martin in 1871 in Newry married a Samuel Martin on the 9th Feb 1871 at Ballynagappog Presbyterian
The above Henry Morgan married an Ellen MCCoy on the 16th feb 1871 at forkhill RC Newry.
I looked on Emerald at the above two marriages. There are no Henry Morgan's marrying a Sarah Martin listed on there that I can find . The only Sarah and a Henry Morgan marriage listed on the site is in 1856 and her name is Murphy . They have a few Henry Morgan's and Sarah Martin listed but none who marry each other.
If all else fails EllinSpain and you are confident that you have the correct details/parents, area and abt date ,you could always contact GRONI, or try and order the cert from Groni with those details that you already have . GRONI usually do a five year search for the certificates that are ordered. They search two years either side of your given year (and the year your given date is in) so the date of marriage you have need not be dead spot on.
*Sometimes they will search outside five years, but I guess that's totally down to the indvidual person on the day that's dealing with the applications (* they once searched at the very least 9 years for one of mine , it may have been a wider range .My date was in 1907 and they found something back in 1898 ,I don't know how many years they went forward looking too )
Another idea is to obtain a birth cert of one of the other children (if they had more children ), to see if the marriage details of the two parents are the same on the other birth cert or if it differs a little bit.
Kind regards :)

Hi again guys & girls
Many thanks to you all for having a stab at this one!
This couple had at least 2 children in Scotland - 1 Henry Morgan born 1878 in Camlachie, Glasgow & 1 Mary born in 1882 in the Gorbals, Glasgow (think they had more that passed) - on both these the marriage date is the same & 1 states Belfast & the other Antrim. I have gone thro all the Military records I could find also (just in case) but I cannot find this marriage to "prove" that her parents are who I think they are & to give me a clue as to his, well its an enigma!!
I have contacted the GRONI to no avail
Thanks again for your "eyes" and your time

I've found to my cost that the GRONI records are not entirely complete. My gt gt grandparents were married in Linenhall Street Presbyterian Church in 1856 but GRONI has no registers for this church before the 1870s. Fortunately for me the earlier records were microfilmed - but it's a needle in a haystack job if you don't know which church you're looking for.

Many thanks for that - yes the proverbial needle with this line - driving me nuts!!! 2 steps forwards & 8 back! hey ho
Thank you again
