I was born in 1946 in nurse Stubs nursing home Romilly road or crescent Canton Cardiff,my mother was staying at Talbot street at the time before moving to Coventry. Has anyone any imformation on the home?is it still there? heres hoping, CovBob

Yes it is still there although it is much bigger now as several properties
have been taken over.
It is now a nursing home for the elderly.

I was born in Romily Nursing home in March 1941 and have the receipt that was given to my parents. My mother stayed for 2 weeks and the cost was £10.10.0.
Fees were: Private ward...........................5gns.per week
Sharing ward, 2 beds.............41/2 gns.per week
Sharing ward 4 beds..............4 gns. per week.
Laundry included.
Fees were paid to Mrs B.Rees SRN.

I was borne in Romilly Road nursing home too in 1948 so I was interested to see the charges, probably a small fortune in those days so I wonder why my parents went there? Were hospital deliveries non-existent then? I now live in Hampshire but was in Cardiff (Ninian Park) on Saturday last and actually went to see the nursing home for the first time, out of curiosity I guess. As someone else said, it has expanded now, my birth certificate actually says 11 Romilly Road but the address is now 9-15. They have their own website so you can see what it looks like (a bit anyway)
