sorry that is all i could find
though there is a submitted record for a marriage between a william porter and elizabeth jenkins in 1803 in much dewchurch hereford

:) :)
Is much dewchurch close to St. Peters is there any documentation that would prove this link?? .
Rob.

with regard to your first question i do not know but i m sure someone on here will
and your second question you could have a look on the parish register but it does'nt state what church the marriage took place hopefully there would only be one
so you could put a post on here asking for a look up for marriage in 1803 in much dewchurch
and maybe SKS would do it for you.

Have you already found the baptism of John Lane born c1800 at All Saints, Hereford?
If not, I will do a look-up for you at the Hereford Record office in the coming week.
In the meantime, I would like to know the occupation of John Lane in his adulthood.

Hi Jean D,
Occupation Maltster on 1861/1871 Census where he is born c 1800, All Saints in 1861 and 1799 St Peters in 1871.
I cannot find the family in 1851 Census.
1861 at home is Son WILLIAM born c 1847, All Saints
I presume this is his Christening;
William LANE, Baptised/Christened 26 April 1847, St Nicholas-Wesleyan, Hereford, Hereford
Parents JOHN/ELIZA
(Source Familysearch.Org)
John Lane/Eliza Porter Married 10 June 1827, Holmer, Hereford
(IGI Extracted)
Hi Rob,
I notice trees do not have the 1841 Census
1841 Census
All Saints, Herefordshire
HO107/433/1/All Saints
John LANE, 45, Ag Lab
Eliza, 40
Elizabeth, 10
Thomas, 7
They are at Blue School Lane, 1841/1861/1871 census and I still cant find them in 1851!
I have found THOMAS born c 1834 who is an Apprentice Joiner in 1851.
Thomas Married Charlotte KINDERDINE, 27 March 1856, Holmer, Father JOHN
(Source Familysearch.Org)
1881 he is Registrar of Births/Deaths in Holmer.
Back to the Christening of JOHN c 1800 as his Son William was Christened St Nicholas could this be John c 1800??
John LANE, 19 June 1799, Saint Nicholas, Hereford, Herefordshire
Parents WILLIAM/ELIZABETH
Trish :)
EDIT 1861 Thomas and Charlotte are living nearby to John/Eliza (on same Census page) he is a Builder and with him is Brother JOHN born c 1842 , a Painter.
So another Child for John/Eliza.

Thanks for the information about John Lane.
It will probably be on Wednesday that I will search the parish registers for any John Lane baptised c1800. Although the 1799 St Nicholas baptism might be his, it is always best for look for any possible baptisms.

There were 6 parishes in the City of Hereford. For the period from 1794-1804, there was only one baptism of a John Lane - 19 June 1799 St Nicholas: John, son of William & Elizabeth Lane.
So it seems likely enough that you have the right baptism.
However, there is always a slight possibility that his parents were Quakers, Roman Catholics or other Non-conformists - and he was baptised (or not baptised) according to those traditions.
Have you searched for information about William Lane & his wife Elizabeth - just in case that search leads to information which confirms that your John was their son?

hello Rob,
Several years have passed since you first made your enquiry re John Lane. I would be interested to know whether you did prove, to your satisfaction, the names of his parents.
Jean Dobson of Hereford.
