Hello all :)
Being stumped with all my main lines at the moment, I thought I'd follow up some loose ends.
Jacob BALFOUR was born in Tasmania (probably Hobart but possibly Launceston) in 1833, according to the Tas Archives Name Index, to Richard and Ann.
The family left Tasmania in late 1836 and Jacob was not with them, so I assume that he had died.
Can anyone find a death/burial record for little Jacob, please? The name was also spelled "BELFORD"
Many thanks

Hi Prue
There is both a birth and baptism given on the AVRI - only the year 1833 - no date. I cannot see a death. Civil registration didn't start until 1838 in Tas. I think the films of the tas BDMs may be available at state libraries - it could be worth browsing in case there is any mention of funerals.
The CD probably has more search facilities than the AVRI - there could be a name error that I am not finding

Thanks so much, both of you :D
I did find both those records on the Tas Pioneers Name Index (or whatever it's called) and also have a copy of the baptism for Thomas (1832). I haven't got a copy of Jacob's baptism because I suspect, having seen what's on Thomas's, there won't be anything useful on it.
Jacob was the youngest brother of my gx3 grandfather Charles Linton BELFORD, and I was just hoping to find a record of his burial, to tie up a loose end :)
Cheers
