Hi
I have exhausted all my known on line sources looking for these people so I thought I would ask the oracles. ;D
I'm working backwards from Mary Warren b1849 in or around Chudleigh. I have her parents as Richard Warren & Anne Wright. I am looking for anything about the parents and maybe their parents etc.
Cheers
Bob

Some of this information on this database is incorrect with some entries but it is a good starting point
http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?detail=1&type=P&id=298851
the information for Ann's parents ??? I would check her death entry for confirmation on this.
according to this they married 1842
**some records may show they married in Tasmania**
I have found this has been incorrect in some cases, same with births

Hi Bob,
Have you seen this picture of the headstone of Richard Warren at Chudleigh?

{Back on the air after tragic meltdown due to heat :o...........
Computer that is , not me!....... Well, actually me too. 8) Hope my connection holds up. Seems a bit slow and strange}
You will see that Ann shares the monument and also a little 6 yr. old boy Levi Luckman died 1865
The stone will clarify the death date of Ann for you.
1884 aged 54.

Hello there Sue
Levi Luckamn was one of their children or I should say two after the first little one died then another was given the same name, as was the fashion in those days, so I would say you found their headstones.
kind thoughts Jenn

Hi All,
Yes Jenn, Levi the 2nd lived to a good age and his headstone is listed, though not photographed at the same site.
He was 85 when he died in 1957, so the MI details say.
{Very 'off and on' the net wavess today. Really annoying :-[}

Hi Ladies
Thanks for your info and yes I have tried the Tassie Archives site, in fact that is one of the reasons I posted. I suppose we all understand that the further we go back the less sure we are of the info. On the Colonial Links site Anne Wright's parents are given as John Wright & Susanna Durant with births in the second decade of the 1800's, in Hobart, and a marriage also in Hobart in 1842. However I think I know Anne was born c1832 ish. Could be the wrong Anne I suppose.
I have just looked at John Wright, Susanna Durant & Richard Warren as convicts. I've found 11 John Wrights who fit the time frame, no Susanna Durant and no Richard Warren.

Dear Bob etc.,
Richard Warren was born ca. 1807 in Broadwindsor, Dorset, son of William Warren and Mary Luckham. I am descended from Richard's elder sister Mary who married Henry Wakely in 1821 and lived after then in Medstead, HAM.
Richard William arrived in Tasmania on the Africaine in November 1836.
More information is available on descendants and ancestors.
Regards,
Andrew Whittaker.

Hi Andrew
Welcome to RootsChat.
I would certainly welcome any info on Richard, particularly his migration, I will send you a PM with my email address.
I suppose I should explain my interest. Mary Warren is my daughter-in-law's great great grandmother.
Cheers

Hi Bob
With regard to the Tasmanian Colonial Database.....which I might add is a bug bear with me!. That data base has an ancestor of mine being married in the northern part of the state to someone totally unfamiliar with unfamiliar children!!!. ???
Some of the info held on this site is most certainly incorrect. The data base is not from the AOT but the staff are trying to fix this up with at least the correct information. Names and dates are 'cobbled' together....so it you have any doubts whatsoever - disregard the info supplied.
I would hate to think how many people have been on a wild goose chase with the info supplied. I've asked at the AOT with regard to this data base and they have said that there is a disclaimer. Now who really reads that, and besides being on the official site....most people would assume that it is from the AOT.

Hi Webby
Thanks for your input re the Tasmanian Colonial Database. You are just confirming what I knew/suspected but we sometimes don't want to believe it and get carried away with the excitement!! ::)

Just a note about Ann Wright who married Richard Warren, she was not the daughter of John Wright and Susannah Durant. Ann married Robert Johnson in Hobart 3 Jan 1848, and died as Ann Johnson on 30 Jan 1848 from lung problems. Her brother-in-law was the informant on the death certificate and she is buried in the Queensborough Cemetery along with her mother and other family members.
Kind Regards
Andrea
