It's got to be a wedding party, surely with all the folks in their best sunday cloths, the bloke second from the right at the front is a sweep, always good luck at a wedding.

I'd say about 1920.
But where's the bride?
And how do you know he's a sweep?

I'd go along with Loney's date, but as it's such a small photo, and we can't see any women's skirts ( a reeeally important dating tool) it's hard to tell. Lovely photo, though!

Cheers,
China

Motorised charabancs came into use between the wars, so that gives you about 1920-30.
There are two cloche hats, worn by younger ladies, the older ladies are still wearing wider brims, so that tells me early twenties rather than later. Dress lengths would have been better.  ;D

Must be a wedding as the men are all wearing button hole flowers ;)

Thank you all,

mudge that's the reason we thought a wedding party. it is a picture that was in someoones possesion, they put it in the surrey mirror hopiong someone would recognise somebody and my grandma spotted her uncle (standing far left). we do no know which relatives of the original person's it is. all we have established is that gran's uncle lived in the same road in caterham as many of the original persons ancestors. i suspect it may be someone in the road that was marrying bu without a date we can't even begin to find out whose.

thanks all for the restors and dates, it's very helpful.  ;D
