Title: Channel Islands BMD
Post by: Mike Thw on Thursday 29 January 09 14:20 GMT (UK)
Is there a Channel Island equivalent of the the BMD records in England and Wales?

Sadly there is no online BMD.

The CIFHS have produced indexes but they are on paper and in date order (not in alphabetic order). Sadly you have to either visit the Archive Centre, put in a request to CIFHS (to which they will charge) or put a request on this board for some kind sole to do the look-up.

Were you looking for anything in  particular on which I could help?

Thanks for the reply anyway, Stewart.

I'm interested in the maiden name of an Annie De Jausserand (or something similar, sorry) born c1845 "England" - see 1891 and 1901 CI censuses) who was married to an Andrew (c1841 St Peters Port) - a furnature mover - and was the mother of an Andrew born c1881 St Peters Port)

As it's Guernsey I'm afraid I cannot help you as I live in Jersey.

Hopefully someone from that "other Isle" will pick this up.

NO...I dont have Annie's maiden name....but please tell me why you are doing this searching?

My link is to Nicholas John de JAUSSERND who was brother to Andrew.
I have lots of information & documents about Nicholas.

Have a look at Jerripedia (jersey) and Donkepedia( guernsey) sites.Super sites with loads of info and if you are lucky family trees.
I know St Helier have birth records on line.
Look at the Channel Island resources on this site.

St Helier on-line baptism records only go from 1842 until just after 1900 and the family trees tend to be of old established Channel Island families, usually with links back to France.

The Jersey Archive site, www.jerseyheritagetrust.jeron.je holds record cards for everyone who was in Jersey during the German Occupation, 1941-1945 which contain a wealth of information.

Can anyone help with this family:

"JEAN LOUIS FRANCOIS HEUZE" b18/6/1924 Rozel/Trinity/Jersey
Father "ERNEST JOHN HEUZE"
Mother "JOSPEHINE MARIE LE LERRE"

I have the birth record and possible 1911 census entries for the parents.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

I heard yesterday from the Channel Islands newsletter that they are working hard to get the St Helier baptisms all on line,The site has had so much added to it recently it may be worth a look.
