Hi all,
I've posted the full image of both of these pictures before, but in separate, unrelated, posts.
However, I've convinced myself that they are the same couple; or at least, she is the same person.
Ellen was born 1866 and the older picture was taken early-ish to mid '80's. The other picture is, it has been agreed, probably around 1920-1922.
Can't make any decision about the man, but Ellen - look at the mouth, eyes and rounded shoulders. Even more striking to me is her whole pose. The other, similarly aged, seated females in the '20's photo had their hands and arms all over the place - but not Ellen.
So, what do you reckon? Am I a fool trying to find a link, or does anyone else agree that there is a strong resemblance?

Ellen looks as if she's the female in both photos. The shape of her face and the individual features are very similar. The`man is more difficult but there is certainly a similar 'look' about him.

Hi Gadget,
Thanks for that.
It's Ellen then (and maybe James!)

yes she may be the same lady .. downturned mouth and unhappy eyes all the same, but the face seems a little longer.
the chap.. well his face shape is the same... but due to beard/moustache and downturned view.. difficult .. THEN i looked at his ear.... and that doesnt look the same to me...!!
so dont really know ... sorry

Hi Tim,
Rather than send another pm I thought it would be better to put my thought on view.
I really do believe its brother and sister as the eyes, nose, mouth and the oval face all seem to fit, also i believe the girl is only about 15/16 yrs, maybe it will help, see what others think. ::)
Regards netta :)
p.s I think it is the same lady.

Thanks Netta,
I was having problems with the family account of this - my sister takes mums word verbatim! However, this picture is from dads side of the family (and I'm prepared to be a little more open-minded :D )
Ellens brother, James, was only six years older than her whereas Ellens husband, James, was 11 years older. Brother and sister sits better than a wedding photo - I think anyway.
