I have posted this photo before, but the quality was not brilliant as it was from an old photocopy. Yesterday I was given an original taken from the negative so here is a scanned copy of it.
It is my GG Grandad Alfred Hider/Hyder on his trike outside his local watering hole! I was hoping for an approximate date for the photo. He died in 1943 age 95.

Here's hoping.

Hi julia
What a great photo, quality and content
I know you didn't ask for a cleanup (as not really needed), but I've adjusted the contrast (down a bit) & removed a few specks. I've also provided a sepia version. Both images have been greatly reduced in size

PS I can't really help with the date but I would he is about 70 to 75 in the photo making it about 1920 (but what do I know ;D ;D ;D ;D)

Great pic,

Wow everyone, they are great! He looked like such a character, and lived to such a ripe old age as well. He is buried in an unmarked grave in our local disused cemetery.
I think you could be right that he is in his seventies, but I didn't know if it could be dated accurately from his clothing?

I'd say about 70-75 too. Like a lot of old folk he's probably been wearing the same style of clothing for years so that may not help.....Some bicycle expert (do we have such a thing on Roots I wonder) may know something of the style of bike and be able to say when they were used (Of course he culd have had the bike for 30 years which would not help).
Love the photo though

I'd say he's in his 70s as well...if Old Rowley pops his head in, he might have some ideas about the clothing, but as others have said, they could be old clothes (or at least old style) so I think guessing g-g-grandad's age is probably your best bet for dating :)
