Traced my tree back to Everdon where my granddad's family comes from. As much as I know this is my family tree on my Granddad's side and lloking to continue from the oldest names in my tree.
1796 Everdon Richard Bird m. Mary Leeson (No DOB)
daughter - Rebecca Bird b. 1806 Everdon
1826 Rebecca Bird m. James Kenning (no DOB for James)
daughter - Ellen Kenning b. 1835 Everdon
1851 Ellen Kenning m. Uriah Brown (b. 1821 Everdon) son of John Brown and Susan ?
son - John William Brown b. 1869 Everdon
1889 John William Brown m. Charlotte Elizabeth Spence (b.1866 Farthingstone) daughter of John Spence and Celia Gibbard
daughter - Ellen Elizabeth Brown (b. 1900 Everdon)
son - Edward William Reginald Brown (b. 1926 Daventry d. 1997 Edward W.R Johnson)
I don't have a death date for Ellen E Brown as she married John Johnson in August 1927 in and cant find an Ellen Johnson. But I know for a fact that my granddad's name wasn't formerly changed as he only found out he was illegitimate when he had to apply for a birth certificate in 1990 and found his christened name was Brown. He assumed his name was always Johnson as John Johnson is quoted as being his father on my granddad's marriage certificate.
There are some rumours that Ellen had some sort of affair (hence my Granddad being born) with the master of the house (Fawsley Hall I think it is) where she worked as a domestic servant. as no Father's name appears on the Birth Certificate. As gossip goes John (known as Jack) Johnson only married Ellen (when she was apparantly forced to leave Everdon) as she was receiving a substantial amount of money for the welfare of my granddad which was received until he turned 16. But this I have no means of proving.
Thanks for any help that may come my way

Hi Gareth
A friend of mine is related to the Birds of Everdon.
I have e-mailed her to look at the topic.
If not I am sure Alan Clarke will be able to help with your earlier records.

Hi,
I have just stumbled accross this as i investigate my husbands family.
I have a further family mystery for you James Kenning (born 4th dec 1791 in Everdon, Daventry) married Rebecca Bird on 30 oct 1826.
James had a younger sister called Catherine Kenning. She had a son William Kenning on 4th May 1828. Thomas Bird is thought to be the father of William for two reasons:
1. He was named William 'Bird' Kenning
2. On William Kennings marriage certificate he listed father's name as 'Thomas Bird'
What are the chances that Rebecca and Thomas are related?

I also have Richard Bird & Mary Leeson on my tree, with a daughter Sophia born 1816. She married Richard Thorneycroft. There seem to be quite a few children of Richard & Mary but I haven't worked them all out yet!
