I recently came across a bunch of papers and photographs in the back of a wardrobe which once belonged to my Grandparents. It was a lovely find including Identity cards, my Grandfathers diary, various receipts from around the time of their wedding in 1919 and several old family photographs.
Most of the photographs have now been identified but this one remains a mystery. I must say that this family looks a bit well to do considering that most of the family seem to be coal or lead miners but it also seems like an odd thing for my Grandparents to treasure if the subject meant nothing to them.
Would anyone like to take a stab at a date and relative ages of the subjects?
Thanks in anticipation.

No good on dates, but would say the kids are between 5 and 10. The eldest/tallest boy, maybe on the verge of 10. The parents, I'd say 30 - 35.
Maybe they were a brother/sister of your grandparents direct line? Would have made them reasonably important to them when they were younger, but left in nothing more than their memories in later years.

This site gives some clues as to date by the style of the ladies dress. Have a look, but I would go for 1898 as a start. I think I got this like from another rootschatter a few years ago.

By the look of the children, I would asume the parents to be 40 ish. The man is bald but young faced, his wife not yet old, but clearly out of her 20s.
Hope this is of use.

Thanks all for the suggestions, link, amazing clean-up and the welcome :) I would normally have introduced myself before jumping in with a question but don't see a suitable board. Hopefully you'll all get to know me with time.
My apologies for messing up with the size of the attached image. A rookie error which won't happen again.

Hello & welcome to the RootsChat restoration board.
I think what you have here is an early 1900's portrait by the ladies
dress style, also it's around this time these sailor suits for boys were popular.
Ages I would say are; 11/12;9/10;7/8;5/6.
Father looks early 40's,mother mid-late 30's.

Don't worry about the size of the picture it's the resolution that's important for
restoration work, minimum 300dpi,just reduce the physical size if it's over 500Kb.

I agree with the estimates of date that have been ventured so far...I'd say 1900, give or take a couple of years either side. :)
