This is a possible for them on the 1841

John, 27, wool carder
Ann, 30
David, 6
John, 3
Thomas, 1

All born Ayrshire

It's a bit late now. I'll see if I can find anything out tomorrow.

Only John Edgar who is coming up in the baptisms in Ayrshire is:

15 Jan 1775 s/o John Edgar, Ochiltree

This might be Marion or a possible  sister:

15 Dec 1777 Mary McBlain d/o James McBlain, Dailly

hi everyone and gadget  i did manage to find marion mcblain was born oct 2 1786 and christened oct 4 1786 daughter of thomas mcblain and ?????  but that is al the further back i have been able to get. the elizabeth anderson edgar listed in the first post married james rennie a games officer who was murdered by a poacher.  now the rennies are not to difficult to trace but the edgars and mcblains are proving troublesome.    beans

Hi beans

The IGI has this as a submitted record giving the mother as Isabel Gordon - but no Isabel amongst her children so far  :-\

If they used a form of the naming conventions, Marion's mother is possibly a Mary  :-\

Hello All,
This is my first time here but wanted to thank all who assisted in my search. My great x 4 grandmother was Elizabeth Anderson Edgar born Sep 11,1812. She Married James Rennie b. 1812 (abt)  both from Dailly. Her Mother 'Marion' born Oct 2,1786 in Dailly shows her surname clearly spelled as McBlain and her father as Thomas. No info on Elizabeth Edgar father info so will pursue some data that has been supplied. Interesting on the ICG search many people in Dailly area with various spellings of the surname McBlaine etc. Also on the death certificate of James Rennie d. Nov 28,1892 who was shot by a poacher shows his mother's name as Elizabeth A. Eggart. I also found 2 Thomas McBlain born in Dailly 1756 & 1766. Thinking 1766 might be the right one. Then found on IGI1 a Thomas b. 1788 Coral hill? Dailly and parents as Archibald/Agnes with children thomas/agnes/margaret/marion/elizabeth...so think there may be a connection given the explanation of family naming convention.  McBlane. I also noticed on the Family Group Record (IGI) record John Edgar and Marion Blane ( and many others) all named Blane...hundreds of them. Wondering if the submitter or LDS drops the Mc part? So thank you again and I will follow up with your leads. Regards, Hume/Rennie searcher in Maple Ridge, Canada regards
