Hi all
I wonder if some one could look in the PR's please and have a try at this;
I have Richard Stimpson B 1752 Marcham and William Stimpson B 1758 ???? But in the Frilford census in 1841 nothing after 1851.
Richard is believed to be s o Edward Stimpson B 1711 Marcham and Mary.
I am trying to find out if Edward and Mary were William's parents as well?
Any help would be very welcome?
Regards
Nigel

Nigel,
I have found several Stimson families in the Marcham PRs.
In the year range I have;
bapt 29-9-1734 Wm Stimson s of Edward & (blank)
" 20-5-1750 Martha Stimson d of Edward & Mary Frifld
" 3-3-1765 Wm Stimson s of Wm & Martha
" 8-5-1774 Richd Stimson s of Wm & Martha (Priv bapt. adm into church 5-6-1774)
I could not see the marriage of Edward Stimson to Mary
If you prefer I will continue to se if there anymore links

Nigel,
Here is a list of more Stimsons. The index lists names by page numbers which is why I missed these. I still could not find any marriage entries for Edward & Mary but I have these children of Edward Stimson.
page 59 bapt 28-1-1737 Hanna Stimson d of Edwd
" 60 " 1-3-1740 Jn " s " "
" 61 " 15-5-1743 Mary " d " Edwd & Mary
" 62 " 14-4-1745 Jonathen " s " " "
" 63 " 3-12-1747 Jos " s " " "
" 64 " 29-3-1752 Rd " s " " "
" 66 " 19-1-1755 Harry " s " " "
" 71 " 18-4-1762 Elizabeth " d " " "
The only William Stimson I could find are those listed in my earlier post.
The PRs only have marriages for the years 1658-1754.
As I said before there appears to be several families in Marcham
There is a burial for Edward Stimson 8-7-1791
Hope these details assist.

I am trying to research the Stimpson name as well.. but not doing too well. I wonder do you have any more records bearing the stimpson name starting from the 1890's backwards. Just trying to ascertain if we are researching the same family.
Many Thanks

Hi Ethowe,
Have you a name, date and pob for the family you mention and i will have a look to
see if i can find anything for you in my PRs ;D ;D
Sue
-
would POB mean Place of Birth
-
Only info I can recall at present is
William Stimpson died aged 86 on the 17th Januray 1949
Sarah Stimpson Died aged 72 on the 7th December 1937
We think both were born in Abingdon
-
Sorry yes..... as i have PRs for Abingdon and surrounding villages it would make it easier to
search if i knew if they were born Marcham, Frilford etc. If your not sure i will see what i can
find for you :)
Sue
Added.... Ok will see what i can find :)

Could this be them from Abingdon St Helens PRs :)
5 Aug 1891 William Stimpson, 28, b, gardiner, of Purley, Berks, father William Stimpson, lab
Sarah Viner 26, sp, machinist of The Abbey, father Philip Viner, bricklayer
Wits.... William Collett, Ellen Viner
If so i will see if i can go back :)

Again from Abingdon St Helens PRs
This must be the baptism
May 31 1863 William Stimpson son of William and Emma, lab of the Vineyard
Also same day Jane Stimpson
They had twins ;D ;D
I couldn't find a marriage for William and Emma in St Helens but did find this burial
Jul 19 1866 Emma Stimpson of the Vineyard age 19
This looks like same Emma to me but it means she had the twins at 16 :o
I did check Pusey PRs but nothing on there so i think William must have been lodging and maybe
working there at time of marriage.
I will see if i can find anything else ;D

ok thanks sue...
-
Ethowe..... There is also this baptism from Abingdon St Helens PRs
Oct 9 1864 William Stimpson son of William and Ann, lab of Bury Street
This is part of my family and i can tell you Ann's name was Hook before she married.
Not sure which is your William's parents so i think we should wait and see if Ribbo39 or
Ndrft can help you. I will follow this and see if i can help though :) :)
Sorry i can't help at the moment but i wouldn't want to give you wrong info :)

To Ethowe,
I have 2x Stimsons only in my tree (Hannah b.1755 East Lockinge. and her father Joseph who I know little about, other than he married a Mary Lewis at Besselsleigh in 1748).
To jamajo & Ethowe,
I would like to help but unfortunately the Marcham PRs only has Marriages 1658 - 1754,
Baptisms 1658 - 1801 and Burials 1658 - 1804
If you would like to me do some searches for you please let me know.

I have both the William and Richard you mention on my family free (frilford area). Their parents were indeed Edward Stimpson 1712-1791 and Mary 1715-1752 (sorry don't know her surname)
William was baptised 29 Sept 1734 in Marcham and went on to Marry Martha Browne in 1762 at west Hanney.
