This I believe is the husband of the stern looking lady I posted last.
Anybody fancy giving him a tidy up and possibly some colour please? :)
Many thanks in advance

;D Wow!! thank you all so much for your hard work - it never ceases to amaze me what a difference you lot can make to a photo.
I've got another photo of this chap further on in my album it look almost identical but there are slight differences. Why do you think there would be two almost the same??

He looks thinner in this second one....and not just because the first may be a little faded.
Looks like they were taken on the same day...?
But not the same photo because one hand has been lost to a pot plant. Oh I love Victorian photographers and their pot plants, ask Igor, but his other hand has dropped a little as well.
I think you need Prue to try to unravel this one.

Thats exactly what i thought about him being thinner - i wondered if it was the slight change in angle - but why would he have two photos of himself taken at the sametime? It must be the same day as even his tie is at the exactly same skiwift (excuse spelling - not a word I've generally had to write before :-\)
Certainly would appreciate some help on solving this one. ::)

:o Just looked at the back of the images and eventhough they look like taken at the same time they are two different photographers so maybe at a different date and he just happens to dress and look the same only thinner ??? These are the backs of the images - so looks like must have been at different times.
Am I right to assume that they were taken within a few close years ( if so which years?)

Curiouser and curiouser, said
Alice, er, Paula
Different cards, but same backdrop and I think he has his hand on the same thinggy, even though most of it is behind the plant in one...

Great jobs everyone - many thanks for all your hard work He looks wonderful!! :-*. I'm still confused as to why two photos - same pose , background etc but different photographers and addresses ??? Means my mine will be churning it over tonight.
Cheers

All I can think of is two photographers working out of the same studio with slightly different styles...hence he is slimmer in photo 2
Perhaps 2 was a junior, working with out of date stock left over from somewhere else....
I'm not Prue, I can only go by intuition....

There were loads upon loads of business's closing and opening up all the time way back when. If you can get a look at newspapers of the times, there were columns of business's closing, dissolving partnerships, selling stock etc. Maybe one place closed down and sold all their stock to another, one person dissolved partnership with another and took what was 'his', and joined up with the second photographer. Loads of explanations for it, just a matter of finding the one that 'fits' :)

He's a lovely old gentleman, Esther.
As to his looking slimmer in the second photo...
I'm thinking he has turned ever so slightly and we are not seeing him fully front on, also in the first photo his chin is held higher shortening his face, second photo the chin is down.
What ever, I still think he looks like a cuddly teddy bear.
