Our family tree is stuck at William Welleard (wellard), born abt. 1680, died 1738, St Laurence, Ramsgate, Kent. He married Ann Eltenton, abt. 1705, St, Laurence, Kent. We cannot go back any furher. Have tried to find on line Parish records, cemtery records, but come up with nothing. Can anyone suggest anything or where else I might look, apart from coming over to England and search gravesites! I would love to come back to England, as I visited in 2005, with little information, now would be great, but not able to.

Have you tried rootsweb WELLARD-L It is a site devoted to Wellards. I wonder if the Wellard you are looking for is the sameone who was deported to Australia for sheep stealing??

Have you found anything else in the past year?
My Kentish roots (Wood from Dover and Darby /Goldfinch from Deal) was stuck in 1846 with a marriage. I noticed that another user of 'myheritagefamilytreebuilder ' (it's free by the way unless you get complicated) had entered a date of 1816 for Martha Darby Goldfinch (before BMD records). I contacted him and he couldn't remember only that he had searched the internet.
I stuck in Martha's full name and you will find a Goldsack family tree that goes back to 1700 or so. returning to the 'myheritage' tree builder, I then traced Goldsack back via several more generations to William Wellard 1585. Everyone that uses this freesoftware creates a record (most of which everyone can see). so say you have a fred Bloggs born in 1856 in your tree, it will then show other tress with the same name and date and a % match. That way you can trawl from tree to tree.
