Post by: kopperknob on Monday 19 January 09 14:52 GMT (UK)
Hi
Can anyone help i am trying to trace Joseph Booth b abt 1821 in Sheffield
He married a Mary Jane ?  Before 1844 because that was when my gggranma Augusta was born
I have no idea of Mary Janes Surname but she was b in Doncaster in 1818
I think Joseph  had a brother called William Henry b 1818 who was  a Surgeon
Any help would be great
Reagards JANE

Hi Jane

I may have possibly found the family in the census of 1851 and 1861. However Augusta with this family was born about 1847. There is a birth on the Free BMD for an Augusta Booth 1847 Q1 Vol 22 Page 607, born Sheffield District. Could this possibly be her or do you know for definite she was born 1844

Hi

William Henry, if this is the one I found in the medical registers and 1861 census, married an Eliza born Sheffield. He was a GP in 1861. Ref RG9/3476/35/21

There might be a marriage announcement for these two which may lead you to Joseph's parents. William Henry qualified possibly 1840.
