Would anyone know of the name IMRIE from Markinch my wife seems to think they might have come to AUSTRALIA  from there

If you look on the IGI (www.familysearch.org) there are certainly some Imries from Markinch.
eg. Isabel Imrie b. 18 July 1822

If you have any names or dates it would help narrow things down.

We are a little bit vague on this we are trying to find an uncle in new south wales who might have some info

My wifes grandfather James Imrie  was born 7/11/1885 dont know if it was Scotland or Australia his wifes name was Elizabeth Treller his family were George, William ,Elizabeth,Janet .lsabel. On there house in tAustralia was the name Markinch that we think is the connection
If anyone could give us a clue it would be great

There were two James Imries born in Scotland in 1885. One born in Scoonie, Leven, Fife, and the other in Perthshire.

We will try to find a cousin in Australia to see if he has any clues and let you know if we can find him
