I've searching for sometime the Nash family of the 1850s to 1900s
The information I have :-
Name Born
Thomas 1861
Priscilla 1858
Charles 1886
George 1892
Bertie 1896
As far as I know they were Boat/Canal people in the early years in and around the midlands. I've tried several census's and cannot find the family as a whole or parts using various members in the household as a link.
Bertie, married and lived in West Bromwich in later years.
Any help would be obliged.
Thanks

To save us duplicating work will you give the full details of what you already have?
That'll be a full transcript of the census household including address and REFERENCE!

Are Thomas and Priscilla parents and the others are their children? You would only find them on 1891 and 1901 as a family group. Sorry but not sure what you mean?
best wishes
heywood :)

Here they are in 1891 RG12; Piece: 2328; Folio 126; Page 20 with other children besides Charles (older and younger).
Thomas is a boatman. They are living in Worcester.
Here they are in 1901 RG13; Piece: 2855; Folio: 66; Page: 31
with Charles and more children living in Birmingham. He is still a canal boatman.
As there are several other children besides the ones you mention, I suspect that you may not have these censuses but as I said before they are the only ones, with the new 1911 which would have them together. If you need the details please post.
There is a possible marriage in 1879 on Free BMD which means that they should be on 1881- perhaps you have already got this one.
**Just checked- I think Thomas is alone in 1881 on a boat and Priscilla is perhaps with a child, Millicent?

From IGI
Priscilla WEAVER baptised 24 Jan 1858, Saint Helen, Worcester, parents John and Elizabeth
There is a Thomas NASH, a boatman, married, aged 21, on the vessell "Clara" in Oldbury, Worcester in 1881, birthplace Droitwich Lodsill Parish, Worcester.
Priscilla and daughter Millicent separate as Heywood found.

Hi Ian,
that's the one I saw - Priscilla may be with their child Millicent in Worcester
also on Family Search.
There are quite a lot of children some of whom tie in with the ones telboy mentions so it makes me wonder which censuses he is talking about - by mentioning the children I assume he wants them but then :-\
I am of course also presuming that these are the ones telboy wants ::)

Thanks for all the replies.
This has been my problem, where you find certain people which link each other then it falls apart when check in another directory,
I found a Tohmas on the boat Clara moored in Oldbury in 1881. RG11 2841 / 98
I also found them in the Aston area at 64 Watery lane with 5 children in 1901 RG13 2855. Which is the same as mine apart from John ??.
Then in the 1911 census they disappeared. I can find Thomas with George and Charles as members of the household, but no Berti, Priscilla or Edward.
I know Bertie (Bertram L) married later in 1920.
Thanks again for your help

Don't despair!
1881 RG11; Piece: 2916; Folio: 29; Page: 17
Priscilla with Millicent L
Free BMD Millicient Lavinia dies 1883
I gave you the reference for 1891 previously- did you check that one?
1891 RG12; Piece: 2328; Folio 126; Page 20
Thomas; Priscolle ::); William; John; Charles; Thomas and Harry.
1901 RG13; Piece: 2855; Folio: 66; Page: 31
Thomas; Priscilla; John; Charles; George; Edward; Bertie
1901 RG13; Piece: 2848; Folio: 74; Page: 18
possibility for William - lodging in Birmingham - a boatman
so there you have the whole family accounted for- (more than the names you gave) for both 1891 and 1901.
Possible deaths: but may not be them and you say you have found some in 1911
1901 Thomas Nash 43 yrs Birmingham
1910 Priscilla Nash 50 yrs Kings Norton
Was Bertie registered in another name- you hjave said Bertram L but I can't see a birth for that name - could it be- Albert/Herbert etc - have you tried 1911 for that?
There is a possibility for Edward in Kings Norton in 1911 - 15 yrs born Worcester but you would need to access the census to check who he is with.
It doesn't seem to be falling apart just yet. ;)

Thanks again,
As the info I have was given by my late father, I can only go by what he gave.
I far as I know, they had all boys so the girl is abit of a mystery. The only two other names not found along with the family given by father, is Jack and Tom. Their ages, I have not a clue.
Bertram L. Nash was what I found on the BMD marriages to my Grandmother in 1920. But he was know as Bert to his wife and son.
I'll check what I can find for 1891 census.
Thanks again.
-
Well it certainly looks like them:
Millicent seems to be the first child and dies in infancy so probably the family wouldn't know about her.
Would Jack be John- he appears in 1891 and 1901 censuses and Tom (Thomas is in 1891 so it does look as though you can get them together between those two censuses which would be right according to their ages.
By 1901 William is old enough to be working and by 1911 the other children may well be away from home.
Where did you find them in 1911?
-
just seen Bertran Nash in Birmingham in 1911 :D
-
he seems to be with John and Maud
Free BMD marriage 1910 John Nash/Maud Newby ;)

Its been awhile since last here,
Since have tried researching 'Tohmas Nash' on the narrow boat 'Clara'.
Can ask here, who owned or operated 'CLARA; No7, Wooden butty with fore cabin, BCN gauging No 784'. Trying to go beyond 1881
I believe his parents are John Nash - Eliza Harriet Martha
thanks
