so am I for my dad. I found a conversation on here regarding bisley from a John Peeler. He suggested this site
  http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~engsurry/bisley/ss-1891.pdf.

I haven't looked at it yet. My dad was at Bisley from about 1936 when he was orphaned at 8 years old. He spent all of his youth until his late teens with Shaftesbury home who trained him as a whelder/engineer. He is now 80 years old and has so many memories of Bisley. He has asked me to find out what I can. His name is Norman Wells is anyone out there remembers him x

Hi Lesleyblahblahblah,
Your father is around the same age mine.  His name is John Larner and I will ask if he new Norman.  John left Bisley around 1945 and worked in London briefly making musical instruments before going into engineering.

Regards,

Pete

Hi Pete and lesley, Welcome to rootschat.

Great that you seem to have met up and both be looking at the one topic.

Good luck with this.
