Could someone with access to Earl Soham parish register please look for the birth of George Elliott, 1855 - I'd dearly like to find out who his parents were, as I believe he is related to my g-g-grandfather, but haven't yet established the connection,
thanks,
Janet

Thanks Suz, this may indeed be him, as he later became a carpenter also. The father of this family (William) I believe to be the brother of my great great grandfather, the age fits pretty well. This takes me a step nearer, thanks again,

Thanks Suz, this does all help to fill in the blanks. William looks very much like the brother of my g-g-grandfather; his grandchildren's names tie in with my g-grandmother's name, I am very happy to have been able to make the connnection,
thanks once again,
Janet

Hi Janet
If no one can help with this, a volunteer offers lookups from the Earl Soham PRs at The Suffolk Surname List.

Thanks Rick; I did email someone on the list a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard anything back, maybe they're just busy at the moment,

Hi Janet - I have info. re George William James Elliott (he was my grandfather) born Earl Soham 19 May 1871 and died 31 August 1920. He married Agnes Adams born Framlingham 30 December 1855 and died 11 August 1942. My father was their youngest son, Percy born 25 August 1899. George lived at Home Farm Bedfield because Robert (his grandfather) outlived his son William (George's father) who lived most of his life at Earl Soham. I have not had any joy in tracing Agnes Adams' family in Framlingham so far.
I live in Australia and have no family left in England - apart from some female non-Elliott cousins and family. My brother John never married and died last year.
What is your interest in Robert - William - George William Elliott? I am trying to trace Robert's parents and will request St. Nicholas Church fiche from SRO.I'd love to hear from you

Hi aussiejoan,
I now don't think my Elliott family are so closely connected to the Bedfield family as I'd first thought. My gt-gt-grandfather was a Benjamin Elliott, whose father Robert was a carpenter. There was another Robert Elliott (of the Bedfield family), also a carpenter, who had a son named Benjamin born in the same year. Both Benjamins were baptised in Hintlesham.
I still wonder if there's a connection somewhere; a George Elliott, the son of William of Bedfield, had daughters named Agnes and Adelade, and my great-grandmother (daughter of Benjamin) was named Agnes Adelade. Still haven't figured out where the link might be,
Janet
