Does anyone know of a online resource or database that has a list of the founder members of the RAF / WRAF.
E.G.: Those Army (RFC) and Royal Navy (RNAS) men and women that transfered service on 1 Apr 1918 on the founding day of the RAF.
I have 2 in my direct bloodline (Both maternal Great Grandfathers) (one from each service) that I only just found out about. I'm very keen to track down as much as possible about them. Also my Great-Grandmother joined the WRAF in Jan 1919.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

If they are Commissioned Officers or Warrant Officers then they will be listed in the April 1918 Air Force List.
I have a paper copy of this so if you post the names I will do the look up for you.
If they were of other rank then they will be in the RAF Muster Role, but again this is not an online resource.
I do not have a copy of the Muster Role but I understand a copy is present at the IWM archives and RAF Museum at Hendon.

Ross

My ancestors were both Other Ranks so I was hoping that they had an online Muster Role. Obviously not. So i'll have to take a trip to the Air Historical Branch at some point, Or write to them for a look up.
I hope that in time it will be digitised and published, particularly in time for the RAF's 100 year anniversary.
Thanks anyway,
DM
