Title: Preston Lancs look-ups
Post by: Dorinda on Saturday 10 January 09 19:14 GMT (UK)
Looking for the death dates for Joseph and Ann(Green) Hague. Both were born in Preston Lancs  in 1887 and I do know that Joseph was buried in the R.C. section of Preston Cemetery and hope that Ann is also buried there. I need their death dates and would very much appreciate a look-up from some kind Preston city dweller.
Best regards........Dorinda

Hi

Unless they had a readable engraved headstone - just looking around the cemetary would not find their grave or their death dates.  The plot number is needed

You would first have to establish what year they each died (see below).

Their actual death dates will only be obtained by buying a copy of their respective death certs

Using their actual death dates, it may then be possible to obtain the plot number from the records office

As they were only born in 1887 - they could have still been alive in the 1950's or 1960's.

Do you have any clues as to an approximate year in which they died to narrow it down?

If not - you will have to search the full GRO index on a quarter by quarter basis from a year when you know they were alive (birthyear of last child)

The full GRO index is available at your nearest main library if you live in the UK.  It can also be searched online if you have an Ancestry subscription or at www.findmypast.com which is a paysite

Only an index held at the LRO which had the ref 1/112. The originals are held at Wigan
