Hi all,
I am quickly getting to the point where I am realising that I should record sources for the information that I am storing in my tree, and I have been looking at how to go about referencing census data. I have come up with the "census number" "piece number"/"folio number" format, however I have been struggling with how to convert this back to the actual census data if I need to... I have been using Ancestry to search for the information and I can't find any way of entering this information into the search on there. Am I being stupid?! >:(
Thanks in advance for your help - this is really annoying me! :)

yep ;)
down at the bottom of the search frame - when you have 'Advanced Search Options' enabled

Ah... I still couldn't find it but then I chose to "go back to the old search experience" and there it is!
I still can't find it in the "new experience" though? :-\

I've avoided the 'new experience' ..... but sadly I suspect it will be impossible much longer !
In the 'Refine search' frame,( to the left of the initial list of hits in the required census resource), click 'More' ...... just above the SEARCH button

Don't forget to save the census images to your computer. If you save them with the year first or the reference number followed by family name, they'll sort themselves into order.
You can always crop them and put them into your notes as pictures. And if you ever unsubscribe from ancestry you'll always have them.
