Title: Foster family from Mulderg,Magherafelt
Post by: Curley on Sunday 04 January 09 17:53 GMT (UK)
Hi Lookers
Looking for information on the Foster families from this area.
Names I know of are Thomas Foster married Margaret Sloss in Saltersland Pres Church in 1851. Family names might have been Janette b 1856, Minerva b,1854 and John b1852.
Information on other children would be welcome , as well as brothers and sisters of Thomas.
Many thanks for reading my post

Curley,
Emerald Ancestors has Thomas Foster marrying Margaret Sloss in Magherafelt First Presbyterian Church on 22 May 1851.
A parent search on the IGI gives the following children
15 Oct 1856    Janet
7   Dec 1857    Marion
13 Jul  1858     Joseph Sloss
1   Feb 1862    Margaretta Louise  All born in Magherafelt

I have looked at Griffiths and cannot find Foster but there are lots of Sloss households.

Regards

There are several Foster families in Ballymulderg, Magherafelt Parish in Griffith's Valuation.

Curley,
Agaadowey is correct. I have just entered Foster without Thomas and found what I think are two families, Samuel and John. John appears to rent land in two townlands but onlyone house.

Hi Folks
Great piece of work. Many thanks.
I presume my Thomas was too young to have his name on any land since he was only married in 1851. My next query is to find which of the Fosters,s is his father. By the way thanks for the correction on place of marriage.
Cheers Curley

Since Thomas Foster married 1851 in a Presbyterian Church his marriage certificate should list his father's name and occupation.

Hi All
Just to confirm what I have established since my last post.
Thomas,s father was John Foster, living in plot 19 in Ballymulderg Beg in the Griffiths Listing.
Children confirmed are Minerva b30 May 1854,Margretta Louisa b 1 Feb 1862,and Marion b 7 Dec 1857. All three are in the Saltersland Pres records of baptism.
Still looking for confirmation of John, only reference is death on Headstone in Saltersland d 25 Dec 1914., Janette also on same headstone died 29 March 1934, and Joseph Sloss, no details known. IGI  as you have indicated show birth registrations, but no church baptisms.
Hope this avoids duplication and many thanks for all your efforts so far
Curley
