Title: Bulman family Wetheral
Post by: stoney on Sunday 04 January 09 17:22 GMT (UK)
Hi, Can anyone help me trace William Bulman in the 1841 census - born c.1826, Wetheral. Parents are William and Elizabeth.

He seems to be the last of several children, other names may include: Isabella and Reginald.

Many thanks, Stoney

All b in county

 :-[  ooops!
Yup, father was Thomas! Sorry!  :-[

Thanks for this ! Interesting to note that John is listed as a mason's apprentice.

One of his sisters married a mason in 1835 - wonder if they took the lad on to give him a trade?

I'm intrigued to see if Elizabeth and Thomas(Snr) made it to the 1851 census.
If anyone has time, I'd appreciate it if you could see what turns up!

Many, Many thanks for all the work this afternoon folks!  :-*

Thanks Ricky! I think Thomas Atkinson is Elizabeth's brother.

Interesting to see stone masons cropping up again!

Thomas B and Elizabeth's daughter, Margaret, went on to marry Archibald Meyre - a stonemason.

Their son, Edward, was in the Navy, but his daughter, Kate Meyers, married Joseph Beattie - also a stonemason, from a line of them across the border in Langholm.

BTW - love the doggy pic, Ricky. Is he/she a greyhound?

We have a rescued GSD x.  If we were to have another dog later, I think we'd like to try adopting a greyhound. I hear they have the propensity to be couch potatoes!  ;)

Thanks for the census stuff and your recommendations about A****try subs, too!

Hi Stoney

Greyhounds are some times known as 40 mile an hour couch potato's. I walk ours twice a day, but some people only walk them two or three times a week.

Looking for a Thomas Bulman born abt 1818 in Carlisle or possibly Wetheral to a James Bulman and Ann Graham. Thomas came to Canada in about 1851. Unknown if any there were any siblings or any further lineage earlier than James available. Any info would be helpful.

Hi,

I think your Thomas Bulman might be linked to my "lot" - but working to establish this!

In the meantime - have found an extracted birth recored on IGI (so fairly reliable) for Thomas Bulman, Ch. 16/08/1818, Wetheral; parents James Bulman and Ann Graham.

Will do more diggin' and get back to you!

Regards,

Stoney  ;)
