Hi,
Does anyone have access to the 1841 Census for the Sedlescombe/Whatlington area? I'm looking for John and Caroline Simes - possibly living at Hancox Farm in 1841.
I'm also looking for John's father also called John Simes and also a famer in the area I think. He was married to Hannah Simes and they had 8 children.
Bpt. 1799-6-13 John Simes - farmer at Hancox farm by 1841
His siblings:
Bpt. 1802-4-9 Edmond Simes
Bpt. 1803-8-7 Henry Simes
Bpt. 1805-4-27 Harriott Simes
Bpt. 1806-11-9 Sarah Simes
Bpt. 1807-12-31 Joshua Simes
Bpt. 1809-12-1 Eliza SIMES
Bpt. 1812-1-12 Hannah Simes
I'd be grateful for any help in finding John and Hannah and their children in 1841.
Regards
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
can't help with the census but this might be the marriage of John Senior. Note it's by licence, so more information there if you track down the Allegation.
from the Sussex Marriage Index:
Whatlington, East Sussex, Date: 22 Oct 1794:
John SIMES
Hannah HUNT, (lic)
This looks highly likely as the marriage of John junior,
from the Sussex Marriage Index:
Hastings St. Clement, East Sussex, Date: 28 May 1840:
John SIMES, Sedlescombe
Caroline CROUCH
