Title: Grays in Darlington area.
Post by: MattD30 on Sunday 28 December 08 22:35 GMT (UK)
Is there anyone who has access to parish registers for Darlington, Northamptonshire for rge early 20th century and can do some look ups for me? My great grandmother Mary Ann Gray (1890-1963) had an elder brother Charles (born 1877) who moved to Darlington, Northampton at some point between 1908-1910.

Charles was born in Kentish Town, London in 1877 and married Florence Martha Oakley there in 1901. Together they had (at least) ten children including:

Charles Gray - born 1902 Kentish Town, London
Stanley George Gray - born 1903 Hemel Hempstead, Herts
Albert Edward Gray - born 1906 Boxmoor, Herts
Florence Gray - born 1908 Boxmoor, Herts
Kate Gray - born 1910 Darlington, Northampton
James R Gray - born 1913 probably Darlington
Winifred M Gray - born 1917 probably Darlington
Doris F Gray - born 1919 probably Darlington
Bessie Gray - born 1921 probably Darlington
Alice M Gray - born 1923 probably Darlington

I would be very interested in finding the baptisms of those children born in Darlington, and any others as well as making contact with any descendants.

Thanks

Matt

Probably Dallington, the registration district is Northampton.

Two possible parishes for baptisms.
The original parish church in Dallington village or the church in St James (where I used to attend Sunday School) which was built in the 1860's.
St James parish was formed from part of Dallington parish and part of the adjacent Duston parish in the area of St James End where the population had grown rapidly in the 2nd half of the 1800's.

Thanks for those Sandy.

Is it possible to see if there are any burials from 1911-1960? I'd like to establish when Charles and Florence died if possible.

Thanks again though.

Hi Matt,

I realise I replying to a very old post here, and I'm new to discussion boards.
I can;t seem to send you a direct message.
I'm a descendant of Charles and Florence Gray and would like to get in touch.
