Title: 1821 Census for Co. Cavan
Post by: linden on Saturday 27 December 08 18:49 GMT (UK)
The surviving 1821  census for Cavan  is fairly extensive but I haven't found my Leddy family . So I wondered if anyone can help me approach it from a  different angle .
Does anyone know which Cavan parishes are MISSING from  the 1821 census ?

Oh dear , there  are a lot of them !
I have had   the Cavan  archives look at parish records for the county and they didn't turn up there either . I guess if I could also discover which parishrecords were missing it might narrow the field .

You could try making a list of all the parishes and then crossing off the ones that are available (then take the ones that are left and do searches on Google just to double-check that they aren't still in existance). For details on townlands and parishes in Ireland see www.thecore.com/seanruad (be sure to change default setting from exact match).

Thanks Aghadowey .
The National Archives in Dublin suggested from the naming pattern , that my family might have come from Killeshandra .
Cavan Archives looked for the baptism of Lawrence Leddy in the 1820's but they didn't find him , so I'm beginning to think I will be unlucky .
I've  thought of spending a day there , but I can't think what I would be able to find .
