Hi all,
Can anyone help with any information on my 3 x Great Grandmother Frances Harrison?
I know she married Samuel Broomhead (or Brumhead) on 7th October 1814 at Gainsborough and I have details of 11 children for them. I think she died some time between 1841 and 1851 as she disappears from the census by 1851. Her last place of residence was West Stockwith in Nottinghamshire, close to Gainsborough.
I haven't been able to find out who her parents were or a burial record for Frances and Samuel. Any help would be much appreciated.
have a great Christmas,
Kate.

Here is the family in 1841
Saml Broomhead 50
Mary Broomhead 20
John Broomhead 20
Chas Broomhead 15
Martha Broomhead 11
Jonathan Broomhead 8
Folio: 10; Page: 14; Line: 13;
~~~~~~~~--------------------------------------------
as you can see Samuel is without his wife Frances I believe it could be that this is her death record because she appears on the same record page as her son Jeremiah she sadly
looks to have died giving birth to him :'(
Deaths Sep 1838
Broomhead Jeremiah Gainsbro 14 189
Broomhead Frances Gainsbro 14 189
Hope this helps a little
Regards Judi :)
Hi Judi,
Thank you for the death record and census details. The tree was probably mine on ancestry as I do have Samuel's death cert I just don't know where he was buried.
The sad thing about about Frances is that Jeremiah was a twin and his sister Sarah Elizabeth Broomhead died as well. I knew the babies had died but wasn't sure about Frances so thank you.
Now I have to find her parentage!! I love this family tree but at times it is so frustrating!!!
Thanks again,
Kate.
Hi Kate
I was at Lincoln Archives this morning, and always take along a few queries from this board in case I have any spare time.
I found the marriage of Samuel Broomhead (Bach) of Beckingham (that would probably be the one just over the River Trent from Gainsborough in Nottinghamshire - not the one in Lincolnshire which is near Newark!) at All Saint's Church, Gainsborough to FANNY Harrison (Spin) of Gainsborough by Banns on 7 October 1814. Samuel signed but FANNY made her mark. Witnesses: Sarah Dickinson and the mark of Wm. Scoufield.
Sorry didn't have time to look for her baptism, but will see if the info is in Gainsbroough Library. But I did find the baptism for your other query of RUTH ATKINSON (again at All Saint's) d. of William Atkinson (Brazier) and Elizabeth, his wife on 7 March 1772.
Came across burials of two other Atkinsons: -
Thomas Atkinson - (Innholder) buried 10 October 1767 and
Penelope Atkinson buried 3 February 1766 - Widow (but obviously not Thomas'!)
Hope this helps.
Hi Polly,
That's brilliant, thank you so much.
You have just broken down my brick wall!!!
I really appreciate you looking for me. I still have family in the Gainsborough area but they are elderly Aunts so I can't really ask them to go to the records office for me. I get there when I can but work full time and have a problem driving due to chronic arthritis, so you have done me a massive favour.
All the best,
Kate.
Hi again, Kate
From Gainsborough Library -
Baptism - 20 December 1791
Frances d. of Robert & Ann Harrison of Morton (co-incidentally that is where I live!)
Didn't have time to go back any further as I didn't want a parking ticket - will look next time I go, so watch this space!
