Ihave the 1925 ships record.  I also have the 1911 and 1912 arriving at Ellis Island on both occassions he told lies about his age saying he was 40 years when really he was 46 years and 47 yrs old in the 2nd Journey, what I am looking for is the outgoing record from Ellis Island to Liverpool in 1912 I am interested in what his reason is for returning as it would help solve a family mystery, Also in Ireland the surname was Mulloy but all 3 versions of the surname was used in America especially Malloy and the other version Molloy so it could come under any of them the other 2 Bernards of 1897 are not him.  Many Thanks to both of you for taking the time to look up for me I appreciate it very much

Kind regards Jane ;)

Hi Jane,

Are you asking for a record of Bernard M*lloy leaving Ellis Island, to return to UK.  As far as Ellis Island site, it only gives arrivals not departures, I am sure that departures from USA did not go via Ellis Island.

Hi Jane,

The ship left from New York, and sailed to Glasgow via Moville, Donegal. I do not think there was an exit record kept in USA. The record in Ancestry is Ship's record. Hope this helps.

Hi I'm pretty new to this site and love it.  I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for me.  My family immigrated to the United States.  The first person to venture over was John Johnston (my great grandfather).  His parents where John Johnston and Mary Campbell (cammell (sic) ).

He left his wife at home in New Monkland while he came over on the SS. Circassia.  She was to follow him later, which she did.  The timeline for her coming over is between May 25, 1882 - the date of birth for their son Patrick in New Monkland, and October 15, 1884 the date of birth of their son Frank in Snowshoe, Pennsylvania.

Here's my problem. I can find no ship records anywhere for Mary and the children.  I have had a professional person search the Ellis Island records, and they said nothing has been found.  I searched Ancestry on line and also searched LDS - nothing.  I also searched Pennsylvania arrivals, again a dead end.  Boston also proved fruitless.  The only two I've not searched yet is Canada and New Orleans.

The family would have traveled together.
Mary Johnston (nee Brogan)
Annie Johnston or Ann Catherine Johnston (my grandmother) born 6/9/1874
John Johnston - born 12/28/1875
Susanna - born 2/28/1877
Helen (or Ellen) - born 1/18/1880
and Patrick - born 5/25/1882

Now as to Susanna born 2/28/1877.  There is no record of her here in the United States so I'm not sure if she even made the crossing.  I have had research done trying to locate this child, but to no avail.  There doesn't seem to be a death record in Scotland or in the US.  So I'm not sure if she was alive.

Thank you if anyone can point me where I can have ship records searched in Scotland.  It would sure help.
