Hello
I am trying to trace Albert Martin and his wife and ancestors, but havent had much luck to date.
What I do know, he married Elizabeth Amos and they had a daughter Gertrude Emily Ethel Martin who was born 2nd Qtr 1906 in Pewsey Wiltshire, v5a, p148.
I cant seem to find any of these people on the census. Any ideas?
Thanks
Toots :)

Have you got a date for marriage of Albert and Elizabeth? I had a quick look on FreeBMD but couldnt see it immediateyl in Wiltshire
Was Gertrude the eldest child?
If you can get the marriage cert of Alb and Eliz, that will give their father's names and occupations and therefore help you to locate the right people in 1901 (though Martin is a very common surname)

the only Albert Martin who married an Amos (Edna ? ) was in 1925 - FreeBMD
so basically what Liz said :)

There is a marriage in Pewsey Q1. 1906 for Albert Martin, 5a. 231, with an Elizabeth Amor on the same page..... :-\

That looks a good find, Mum44
1901 has numerous Eliza/Elizabeth Amors around Pewsey - most look too old or too young to be giving birth in 1906 - but at least it confirms there are several families with that surname in the area.
Marriage cert is a must.
Have you got Gertrude's birth cert? Does the Mum's maiden name look as if it could be Amor rather than Amos?

how strange, now why didnt that show up earlier ::) maybe I didnt wildcard it ?

FreeBMD shows an Elizabeth Amos birth registered 1889 Dec qtr, Wokingham 2c/393, who would be just old enough to marry in 1906. Wokingham district covers an area that included a few bits of Wiltshire. Just a thought.............
Merry Xmas, Dave
