Hi, I am looking for an Andrew Morris who was in Whithorn Wigtownshire about 1862/3. His occupation was given as a gamekeeper.
He had an illegitimate son by Sarah Carly (or Carlie) in Whithorn on the 15th March 1863. For some reason I seem to be unable to find Andrew Morris's birth, marriage or death on any records in Dumfries and Galloway.
Can anyone help.
Thanks

Hi
As a gamekeeper - he may have moved around, and not just in Scotland
You would need to check all Andrew Morris entries on the 1861 census who were old enough to have fathered a child in 1863 to see if any were gamekeepers
How about this 1861 entry?
Andrew Morris 23 gamekeepers assistant b Longforgan Perthshire who coincidentally was living in Whithorn in 1861 at (3) Gamekeeper's Cottage

We were stuck, our family tree could go no further back because we couldn't find any details on this person. Now we can make more inquiries.
Thanks again

Thanks again, our family tree has suddenly moved 200 miles further North that we ever expected !
Final questions, do you have an address in Longforgan where they all lived ?
When Andrew Morris lived at Whithorn did anyone else reside with him ?
Cheers, Bob

Hi
The 1851 address was just Longforgan village
In 1861 he was living with the gamekeeper Donald Tolmie - no other residents
