If Arthur married in Ireland the marriage certificate would hopefully give his father's name and occupation but it is difficult to get information on individuals pre civil registration. To find church records (if they exist) you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish or street in Dublin).

Thank you both for your input.
I was hopeful of finding him or his family on a census around that time. It is the one missing link that I have left.

I have some info on a pm so will chase that up next.
Thanx again

I have the 1851 Dublin Census index, will give it a look up for you. That's why i wanted to know his father's name.

Thank you. I wasn't ignoring you. I thought that I had posted that I have info from 1851, but I realize now that I haven't.

Arthur's father died in 1851 and I have Arthur, his brother, sister and mother in Liverpool in 1851.

They are a difficult family to trace. The brother Matthew was born in Livorno, Italy, the sister Harriet in London and I think Arthur was born in Dublin around 1844.
I was asking for the 1841 census to see if it gave anymore information about the parents Thomas Keogh and Eliza Gill(i)an

Thank you for your persistence.

I am sorry to say there are no records for the 1841 census here in Ireland, due to the fire in the Custom House in the Civil War.

Thanks for your input.

I guess I'll have to declare this topic closed, although not my research.
I'll keep on looking and maybe the info will turn up somewhere.

Thanks again

You could take a look here http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/

I did a quick search between 1800 and 1888 for the whole of Ireland for Arthur but with no results.
The site however does not include central Dublin.
You best bet now would be to search the Civil Birth Index either in the GRO in Abbey Street or in the Gilbert Library in Pearce Street. You might like to ask if someone on the boards was planing a visit and could they do the lookup for you.

Church Baptism Keogh Henry 1845 Co. Limerick

If you knew the father you can add a fathers name and see if it's a match
